    The author collected the data of the family history from the sick-bed records at the Kanagawa Tuberculous Sanatorium and estimated the familial death rate with tuberculosis for one year. After comparing the death rate of the family with that of the population, taken from official statistics published annually by the government, the author recognized that the rate of the former is greater than that of the latter, so that he confirmed the familiarity of tuberculosis.

    In der vorliegenden Arbeit handelt es sich urn eine bakteriologische Anwendung des Prinzips des Aufschwimmungsverfahrens bei der Erzaufbereitung, dass sich. hydrophobe Partikelchen an die Grenzfläche der beiden stark geschüttelt und dann ruhig gelassenen Medien sammeln, während dabei hydrophile Stäubchen in der Suspension zurückbleiben. lch babe Emulsionen von populären särefesten und nicht-säurefesten Bakterien mit verschiedenen fettlösenden Medien, wie Aeter, Petrolaeter, Benzin, Chloroform, Xylol, Toluol und Benzol dnrchgeschüttelt und die Aufschwimmung der Mikroben beobachtet, u. z. in Berücksichtigung auf Serten der genannten Medien, die pH-Grösse, die Temperatur und die Konzentration der Emulsionen.
