    In succession to the preceding papers, the results of faeces examination by the acid-heated precipitation reaction are reported in the following: The samples of faeces examined were 42 out of 25 intestinal tuberculosis (int. tbc.), 33 of 23 suspicious intestinal tuberculosis (susp. int. tbc.), 48 of 35 pulmonary tuberculosis (pulm. tbc.), 63 of 47 non-tuberculous patients (non-tbc. pat.) and 19 of15 healthy persons (hlth. p.). The results gained are as follows:

    In the first report of this series, the author, made comments on the relation observed between the sucklings not infected with tuberculosis and their mothers infected with tuberculosis.
    A similar experimental observation has been performed. The results obtained, together with the summarized considerations of the whole series are reported in the present paper.
    a. The intensity of tuberculin reactions of those children examined at the end of the 2nd month after BCG vaccination was found to run in parallel with that of their mothers' caused by the natural infections.

  • Report III. CULTIVATION FROM PUS, URINE AND PLEURAL FLUID

    As for the materials to be examined, 18 samples of pus, 19 of urine and 21 of pleural fluid, of which the smears were all negative of tubercle bacilli, were treated with 4% solution of sodium hydroxyde and an equal or doubled amount of Kirchner's medium was mixed to the washed sediment. A drop of the washed sediment suspended in Kirchner's medium was placed on a slide. The slide was kept in the moist chamber and incubated. The slide was taken out from the moist chamber after 2 to 3 days, then it was dried and stained. A tube coutaining the same suspension of the washed sediment in Kirchner's medium was sealed and incubated. The tube was centrifuged and the sediment was smeared on a slide for staining.

    Nine nitrofuran derivatives, 2-(5-nitro)-furylacryl niethylalcohol (No.1), 2-(5-nitro)-furylacrolein (No.2), 2- (5-nitro)-furylacrolein semicarbazone (Parafuracine) (No.3), 2-(5-nitro)- furylacrolein 4'- Phenylseraicarbazone (No.4), 2-(5-nitro)-furylacrolein 4'-phenetbylsemicarbazone (No.5), 2-(5-nitro)- furylacrolein thiosemicarbazone (No.6), 2-(5-nitro)-furylacrolein aminoguanidine hydrochloride (No.7), 4-(2-(5-nitro)furfulydine)-4'-caploylamino-1, 1'-diphenylsulfone (No.8), 2-(5-nitro)-furfural-2'-butoxy5-aminopyridine (No.9), and three pyridine derivatives, 2-butoxy-5-aiuinopyridine hydrochloride (No.10), 2-amino-3-nitropyridine hydrochloride (No.11), 2-amino-5-nitropyridine hydrochloride (No.12) were examined of their bacteriostatic effect against Mycobacterium tuberculosis hominis Aoyama B strain in vitro. The medium used was Kirchner's serum medium and the amount of tubercle bacilli inoculated was 10-3mg per tube.

    It is necessary to observe the effect of loading a definite amount of exercise on those tuberculosis patients who are undergoing labor treatment with satisfactory findings both in dynamic physical strength and in dynamic general clinical examinations. The findings of this observation affod an important basis for the decision of the labor capacity of individual patients upon resuming the social activity.

    Importance of the role played by tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle) in the terminal respiratory system of animal is an almost established fact, but the distinct proofs on the presence of such cycle in bacteria are quite few. Most of the enzNmes participating in TCA cycle were extracted, in ourlaboratory, from the cells of avian tubercle bacilli in cell-free state and some part of the reaction (synthesis of citrate) was proved by using the acetone-dried cells. The extraction was accomplished by combination of the grinding with quarz-sand, alternate freezing and thawing and antolysis of acetonedried cells etc.
