There are many kinds of portable engine-driven, pneumatic, and electrical vibrating tools. They often result in the vibration diseases because of their intensive vibrations. Therefore there are widely used various handle vibration isolators, consisting of springs and rubber. Most of them, however, have not been always effective in the vibration isolation of these tools. Hence forth it is conceivable to develop new types of vibration reduction mechanism as the principal devices. A two-cylinders engine, counterbalancing the inertia force of piston, has been recently developed as motive power for chain saw. In such a circumstance, surveys were carried out on the vibration of electrical concrete breakers, one of typical piston-operated vibrating tools. After analysing various vibration measurements and dynamic attributes on each part of tool, it was confirmed that the main cause of vibration sensivility was the reaction force of connecting rod via piston, forcing rapid compression of air, rather than the impingement of chisel for the chisel bush on the front of tool.
