The problem on solutions for chemical polishing of Ni-Cr alloy and the effect of chemical and electrolytic polishing on the strength and anti-corrosibility of Ni-Cr alloy were studied. The important results obtained in this study are as follows :
1. As chemical polishing solution, conc. HCl, HCl+HNO
3, H
2SO
4+HNO
3, H
3PO
4+H
2SO
4+HNO
3, etc. were excellent, but these reagents could only remove the secondary black surface-film produced by gas-fire.
2. Loss in weight became marked, when the time for chemical polishing were too long. This resulted in a decrease of strength, but the result of bending test showed no diminution of ductility.
3. The result on electrode potential in 0.05 per cent HCl solution showed an improvement of anti-corrosibility of alloy by chemical and electrolytic polishing.
