    Since the cultivation of murine leprosy bacilli have not yet been succeeded and they are obligate intracellular parasites, they have been preserved by inoculating into rats or mice. However, there are some reports that the bacteria can be preserved in vitro by means of lyophilization method. Following the investigation by Shitame (1), the infectious activity of mycobacterium lepraemurium was still evident after 103 days of preservation in vitro by lyophilization, and Ryu (2) reported also that this activity kept intact for one year and three months in the same method.The purpose of the present paper is to indicate the interrelationships between the infectious activity of mycobacterium lepraemurium by means of lyophilization and sorts of solutions, in which the bacilli are suspended, at lyophilization.

    Since Landsteiner discovered human blood types, not only blood cells but also many organs and some excretae have been examined for the type substances. More-over, those studies of type substances have been extended to many kinds of animals.F. Schiff (1922, 1933) reported the presence of a type specific precipitin reaction in his study on a type specific precipitin prepared by the immunological procedure.In our country, Ouchi (1927), Fukamachi (1927), Higuchi (1928) and Fukao (1935, 1937) mere recognized by their studies.On the presence of a type specific precipitin in normal saliva, Ueyama (1938) reported that he found anti B precipitin which presented the type specific precipitin reaction with only secretive type of human O type saliva. In 1939, he also found anti T precipitin reacting specially with only non-secretive type of domestic fowl sera. Terashima (1939) reported some instances of pig sera containing anti A and anti B precipitins, and some cases having anti C and anti T precipitins. Inoue and Seki (1940) confirmed that an eel had a new precipitin which reacted with only secretive type of human saliva and did not react with non-secretive type of saliva.Muratani (1946) found a type specific precipitin reacting with A type substance in cow sera, and he reported that those sera presented the specific precipitinreaction to human A and B type saliva, human meconium, and human semen. Further, he compared the cow sera with true anti A precipitin, and thought that the normal type precipitin might be anti. AIV precipitin consisting of a part of anti A precipitin.Landsteiner and Levine reported the presence of a heterogenetic agglutinin in normal horse sera, but no one has yet studied on the heterogenetic precipitin in them.In the course of studying precipitin reaction of normal horse sera to each type of human saliva, the author fortunately found one kind of serum which reacted with only secretive type of human B type saliva. This paper aims to present some new findings regarding with these horse sera.

    Experimental studies of the influence of roentgen irradiation upon the respiratory function are hardly found except Nemenov's (1) inspite of numerous clinical reports about roentgen therapy in the bronchial asthma. Nemenov reported the increase of the amplitude and the frequency of the respiration by radon-irradiation on the medulla oblongata of the decerebrated cat.We attempted to examine the respiratory movement of rabbits especially concerning the wavy periodical respiration (W. P. R.) in the systematic studies of the functional influence of roentgen irradiation on living body.The so-called wavy periodical respiration means a pattern of respiration with undulatory change of the respiration level and in the typical case the amplitude of the undulation exceeds the tidal movement of the respiration. Such respiratory movement was found by Ogata and Yamaguchi (2) for the first time on rabbits and human bodies, which were thought to have received the strong pressure due to an explosion. On the other hand Fukuda and Kato (3) reported a similar respiration, which was observed on rabbits under urethane anesthesia only for a short duration. Tasaka (4) (5) (6) found that some medicines which affect the respiratory center, and the photosensitizing dyes in cyanin series can also cause this type of respiration. Thereafter, it was also found that some natural environmental conditions, especially coldness can cause on rabbits such respiratory pattern.Thus these facts suggest that in the appearence of W. P. R. some higher center may be concerned.

    Since Hallauer (1) reported the hemaggulutination by the Columbia SK, Columbia MM strain of encephalomyocarditis virus in 1947, the hemagglutination by neurotropic viruses have been widely studied and it has been known that the Mengo encephalomyocarditis virus, encephalomyocarditis virus (2), the Lansing strain of poliomyelitis virus (3), Japanese B encephalitis virus (4) (5), St. Louis encephalitis virus (5), West Nile virus (5), and Russian spring-summer encephalitis virus agglutinate erythrocytes under a certain condition.In 1948 Lahelle and Horsfall (6) discovered that the GD Vll strain of mouse encephalomyelitis virus agglutinated human O group erythrocytes at 4 C, but they did not succeed in the hemagglutination by the FA strain of mouse encephalomyelitis virus. Since then, the hemagglutination by the FA strain has been studied by others but no possitive results have been obtained. We could ascertain in the course of our experiments on the hemagglutination by the FA strain that the specific hemagglutination could be occured when CaCl2 solution as a sourse of reaction medium and domestic f owll red blood cells as that of erythrocytes were employed.

    1) A case of Ulcus rodens in female genital region due to Candida albicans is reported.2) A diagnosis was made by the results of laboratory studies such as bacteriological, immunological, histological examinations and experimental production of ulcer on animals.3) Treatment is also described.4) Although our case is not contained within the clinical classification of blastomycosis cutis given by Kummer and Higuchi we believe this case is an additional one.

    The result of our pathohistological study of the normal autonomic nerve cells was reported some time ago under the title “Pathology of the Autonomic Nervous System.” We later studied the so called neurosecretion and the pathohistological pictures of the nerve cells of the superior autonomic center, the prevertebral ganglia and the intramural ganglia in various diseases. Here we report the results of our later study on neurosecretion, the changes caused by antiautonomic drugs on the autonomic ganglia and experimental transplantation of autonomic ganglia.
