Four members of a family exhibiting the trait of Pseudo-Pseudo-Hypoparathyroidism (P.P.H.) are described. One of these had many previously recorded features of the condition. She also had a chromophobe adenoma of the pituitary ; a sideroblastic anaemia and haemochromatosis. We are not aware of these conditions previously being described as co-existing with P.P.H. Three other family members had milder forms of P.P.H. In this family it is possible that male to male transmission occurred.

An improved cell-free liquid medium (ND-5) to the NC-5 was described. For a basal medium, Dubos medium was used instead of Kirchner medium. In this medium, Mycobacterium lepraemurium quickly multiplies in the form of binary fission without an extraordinary elongation. A possible generation time can be calculated by repeated experiments as 1.4 - 2.6 days.

Strain HF (type 1) produces large plaques with a single flat polykaryocyte, whereas strain KY (type 2) produces small ones with round cells. Four recombinants were obtained by cross of HF X KY which possessed the characters intermediate between the parents with respect to plaque size and cytopathogenic effect. Further crosses between these recombinants produced HF-type virus. The crosses between the one recombinant and fresh isolates or mutant viruses also produced HF-type virus at different ratios. The occurrence of parental type by such the crosses suggests that plural genes are involved in the processes of polykaryocytosis by herpes simplex virus.

The assessment of ureteral disorders brought about by surgical treatment for carcinoma of the uterine cervix disclosed seriousness of renal damage which eventuates from the disturbance of the ureter. In view of this, a further study attempting to re-evaluate the conventional fixed idea of therapeutic policy that surgical involvement should be made as extensively as practicable with subsequent irradiation has been pursued with the results stressing the need for deliberation on the combinations of various treat ments for cervical carcinoma. Studies to investigate the pathogenesis and treatment of ureteral disorders and also the interrelationship of such disorders and radiotherapy are further planned with the renewed interest.

A β-k band is one of β-lipoprotein which is separated into a few subunits by polyacrylamide gel-disc electrophoresis. The mechanism and the frequency of the appearance of β-k band in 140 patients were studied using disc electrophoresis and ultracentrifugation. The sample having this band was shown a lower TG/protein ratio in low density lipoproteine (LDL) as compared with those without β-k band. In the ratio of TCh/protein, these relations were reversed. In the ratio of TCh/TG in the fraction of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), the sample with β-k band showed the values more than 0.35, whereas the sample without this band showed the values less than 0.35. According to these findings, the β-k band may be produced by an incomplete hydrolysis of TG in the raction of VLDL.The frequency of β-k band was significant difference between the patients with is chemic heart disease (HID) and the patients without IHD. IHD group showed the value of 31.2 %, control group was 17.6 %. This findings suggested that β-k band was more evident in the patients with IHD than those without IHD.

A slightly stimulating effect of HEPES on the growth of M. pneumoniae and no significant effect on the growth of human mycoplasmas, M. salivarium, M. hominis, M. fermentans and M. orale, in broth culture were obtained. On the other hand, no remarkable effect of HEPES on the maintenance of pH of the broth culture inoculated with human mycoplasmas was noted.
