The causal virus of asparagus bean mosaic is transmitted by the mechanical inoculation with the expressed juice and by the aphids, Myzus persicae and Aphis medicaginis. Astragalus sinicus, Canavalia ensiformis, Phaseolus angularis, Vigna sesquipedalis, and V. sinensis are susceptible to the disease and produce systemic mottlings. Cassia bra is also susceptible to the disease and forms only local lesions.
The thermal inactivation point of the virus lies between 55°and 60°C., and the longevity in vitro is found to be between 12 and 24 hours. The dilution end point is between 1:1, 000 and 1:2, 500.

Diseased leaves of several leaf spot diseased were inserted in the phosphorus-32 solution and the accumulation of the latter at the lesion was studied.
Phosphorus-32 was accumulated at the following spots: Tobacco anthracnose (Collelotricum tabacum), Rice leaf spot (Ophiobolus rniyabeanus), Beet leaf spot (Cercospora beticola) and the artificial leaf spot of tobacco made by CuSO
1 or KC1O
3 injections.
No accumulation of the isotope was observed at the lesions of the following spots: Sweet potato leaf spot (Phyllosticta batatas), Rice bacterial blight (Xanthomonas oryzae), and Rice stem-rot (llelminthosporium sigmoideum).

Overwintering of the causal organism (Xanthomonas oryzae) of the bacterial leaf blight of rice plant, seems to be carried out by two forms: namely the one dried and dormant form and the other vegetative form. In th case of the dried form, the conglomeration of the bacterial cells with each other is necessary to prolong their longevities.
When once changed to this form, the organism was dead gradually if it absorbed plenty of water under low temperature in winter. That is, in the rice field, the organism once change its form to dried state in the diseased leaves of rice or marsh grass (Asprella oryzoides), will Hip gradually during winter due to the repeated moistening by rain.
