The type specimens of the seven taxa of the clearwing moth genus Melittia Hubner, [1819], namely, M. astarte (Westwood, 1848), M. chrysogaster Walker, [1865], M. humerosa Swinhoe, 1892, M. phorcus (Westwood, 1848), M. rutilipes Walker, [1865], M. siamica Walker, [1865] and M. strigipennis Walker, [1865] deposited in the Hope Entomological Collection of the University Museum, Oxford University, Oxford, England, are revised and illustrated. The last species is restored from a synonym of M. eurytion (Westwood, 1848). M. humerosa is cited as a synonym of M. sangaica Moore, 1877. The brief discussion of the type species of the genus Melittia is presented.
