Narrative Based Medicine(NBM)is an important competence for clinicians. However, teaching programs in this area have not yet been established. Our aim is to report on and qualitatively evaluate our program, story writing exercise from two viewpoints.
1)About half of the students wrote empathetic narratives from the patients' point of view.
2)Although one third of the students wrote about fears of harming patients, some of them changed their negative cognition regarding clinical practice by sharing counter narratives of other students.
3)In conclusion, our experience suggests that story writing from two viewpoints can be an effective method for introducing NBM to undergraduates.
