    The requirements for waste water discharge have become more stringent recently and the industrial waste water treatment system sometimes requires Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD) in some countries. To optimize the MLD/ZLD waste water treatment system, it is important to maximize the system recovery by Reverse Osmosis (RO) system to minimize both CAPEX and OPEX of the entire system. In order to solve some challenges of the MLD/ZLD system and optimize the system, the product family of DOW FILMTECTM FORTILIFETM as new anti–fouling elements was developed. Some case studies for MLD/ZLD system in China and India which applied DOW FILMTECTM FORTILIFETM elements are shown in this paper. These case studies demonstrate a reliable and highly efficient system to help solve the challenges of MLD/ZLD system for waste water treatment and reuse.
