The purpose of this research is to develop the scales for assessing the degrees of students'
understanding about "The Decimal Multplied by The Decimal , The Decimal Divided by The Decimal " . For that purpose, we devised the problems to be checked up on the levels on the basis of earlier reseaches and
carried out the test on a total of 191 5th grade and 6th grade students in elementary schools. We then
differentiated the levels and the stages within the levels by scalogram analysis on " The Decimal Multplied by
The Decimal , The Decimal Divided by The Decimal". We also calculated coefficient of reliability by the
Kuder-Richardson formula KR-20 and correlation coefficient between the results of the test and the third term
scores about the students. In conclusion, we could develop the scales for assessing the levels of students'
understanding about "The Decimal Multplied by The Decimal , The Decimal Divided by The Decimal".
In order to educate students having ability to survive sophisticated information
society we try to find how mathematic education in university contributes information science
education. As the first step of this research we evaluated correlation coefficients between
scores in exams of lectures concerning with programing and basic mathematics. In this report
we show conclusions obtained from these evaluations and provide a list of further research
For an interior angle of polygon, the author define the difference between 360°and it’s
interior angle as “the outer angle”. The purpose of this study is to consider about outer angles
mathematically and to develop teaching materials using outer angles. First, the author arranged 10
characteristics about outer angles - for example, in a hexagon, sum of 4 interior angles is equal to
sum of other 2 outer angles. Next, the author developed teaching materials consisting of three
problems using outer angles. Finally the author consider about the effectiveness of these materials.
In this research, I classified the stumbling and its support of arithmetic, by
analyzing preceding studies. As a result, I classified the stumbling of arithmetic into the
stumbling about a learning activity, stumbling about contents of arithmetic, and others. It
is required to unify these stumbling and to consider support of arithmetic.
This study intends to develop an algebraic curriculum which includes education of a
literal expression and a linear equation in elementary school. This report refers the result of
the survey on this curriculum for first graders in elementary school. The result of the
recognition survey with regard to a linear equation shows that the difference between
mathematical signs (ex. “x , y” , and “□”) to signify an unknown quantity has no influence
upon finding a solution. Furthermore, the educational practice also tells us that first graders
can find the solution intuitively. They tend to understand that a literal expression signifies
the substitution of a number for meaning an unknown quantity.
In the current national courses of study for mathematics A, Euler's polyhedron
theorem and task-based learning were newly added. For the purpose of
task-based learning, it is important to develop advanced teaching materials for
task-based learning that interest students. Therefore, we assumed questions of
students about Euler's polyhedron theorem and we developed nine teaching
materials about this theorem in consideration of these questions.
In this paper, by using the results of trial lessons of these materials, we describe
usefulness of them in terms of costs, the degree of interest, and difficulty.
The aim of the study is to determine the status and prospects of methodical
preparation of future teachers of mathematics in Kazakhstan.
The study was conducted in the period from 2009 to 2012. The study was conducted: a case
study of the mathematical preparation of future teachers of mathematics; analysis of
textbooks on teaching mathematics in Kazakhstan; analysis of management information
system education in the Republic of Kazakhstan; monitored teaching staff; evaluated the
implementation of a distance learning system "MOODLE".
The results of the study identified areas of improvement of methodical preparation of future
teachers of mathematics in the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of effective learning tools
(educational-methodical complex, textbook, electronic textbook) information.
