In general, our phonation is controled by movement of a pair of vocal chords. Hence, paralyzing a side of vocal chord, which is called uni-lateral recurrent nerve paralysis, causes difficulties of shutting the glottis and phonation. To cure this disease, silicon or such material is packed into the throat around the vocal chords side by operation. As the operation result, it is expected that the glottis controlled by the diseased vocal chord side is shutting, and the phonation control is recovered by the other side of vocal chord. In this research, we developed a computational supporting system for the operation. Our system provide a function of measuring a volume of the respiratory tract using CT images of patient. Comparing the difference of the volumes of the respiratory tract between before and after the operation, we can evaluate the result of the operation quantitatively.
