. The Wiener spectritrn obtained in one dimensional scanning method is proved theoretically to be given as an integral of thee two dinrnsional Wiener spectrvrnalong one spatial frequency axis pertendicular to the scanning direction This relation is verified experinvntally by studying the changes of the Wiener spectr-rn affected by slit widthes of a scanning aperture. The slit width along the scanning direction determines the frequency pass of the Wiener spectrion, the slit width perpendicular to the scanning direction determines the sectional area of two dinensional Wiener spectrum
A new granularity fa ctor (b, Om(v)=const, for a given film) is suggested as an objective sure for the photographic granularity, uizere b is the slit width perpendicular to the scanning direction and Om(v) is the Wiener spectrum at the spatial tial frequency u This sinple formla similar to the Selwyn relation is confirrtud theoretically and experinvntally to be valid, amen b is large enough
