The purpose of this study was to do the fact-finding of the Kyushu area techical college athetic meet that is carried out every year under the summer heat. The measurement was the weather condition (climate, temperature, humidity, WBGT) and the weight and tympanum temperature of athlete. And, it compared with the data under the comfort. As a result, each mean value of the temperature, humididity, WBGT, were 33.9℃, 50.5%, 29.6℃ under the summer heat (7/22,23). On the other hand, it was 24.5℃, 43.3%, 20.3℃ under the comfort (5/13). The tympanum temperature of the sprinter went up about 37℃ after exercise, under both environment. The tympanum temperature of a long distance runner soared into 40.9℃ after the exercise under the summer heat. The weight of the athlete decreases by perspiration and there was individual difference in the recovery after the exercise.

A change with passage of time of notoriety nitrogen and dissolved matter by geological features was researched as an analysis of the purity of water of sprig water and a shallow well in sirasu tablelands in Miyakonojo basin. The result obtained above was compared data-base for Miyakonojo basin in 1971 using the hexadiagram and the heydiagram. The results of the investigation was obtained that the pollution of the underground water of basin caused by notoriety nitrogen is getting worst, but spring water is more inactive than the water of the shallow well of the ground, and thedensity of the spring water is 3.5 mg/l as compare with 10.0 mg/l of the shallow well's water. And so, it was obtained characteristic of the hexadiagram that the quality of the spring water which was running in stratum of basin.

It was feared the water quality of The Oyodo River in Miyakonojyo district had been made worse, so a water analysis of this river and 4 tributaries (branched rivers) were carried out periodically from July 1997 to November 1998. The average BOD was 2.68 mg/l, the average concentration of NO_3-N was 1.88mg/l, and that of PO_4 was 0.60mg/l. The NO_3-N of The Toshimi River that is one of the tributaries had the highest value, 2,55mg/l. The number of aerobic bacteria and E.coli group's bacteria in The Oyodo River were ca. 10^3-10^4 cells/ml cfu and ca. 10^1-10^2 cells/ml cfu, respectively. We supposed those results depended on agriculture. In August 1998,water analysis was carried out one point on each of The Tama River (Kanagawa Prefecture), The Yamato River (Osaka Metropolitan Prefecture), The Yodo River (ditto), and The Udji River (Kyoto Metropolitan area) that exist near large cities in Japan. The results of those analyses showed BOD and the concentration of NO_3-N in The Oyodo River were similar as those of The Yodo River and The Tama River, but the number of E.coli groupe's bacteria in The Oyodo River was the largest of them all.

To characterize volcanic ash soil used for pasture receiving different level of cattle manure, soil perfusion with ammonium and glucose was carried out for 25 days. The effect of additional glucose to nitrification was examined. Soil used were : heavily manured soil (HM), moderately manured soil (HO), soil with eroded surface (LO), soil applied only with chemical fertilizer (G), and in addition to above mentioned pasture soils, soil used for vegetable crops, applied with chemical fertilizer (V), was used. Using three levels of additional glucose to bring the C/N of perfusing solution equal to 5,10,15 was a useful approach to characterize soils in term of capability of ammonium oxidation. For soils of LO, G, V, even at C/N equal to 5,no nitrification was observed. For soils of HM, HO, at C/N equal to 10,nitrification was observed, though HO had longer suppression period of nitrification. At C/N equal to 15,soil of HO did not show nitrification but of HM showed nitrification.

In this paper, several sets of orthogonal polynomial functions, (thought to be useful to the Rayleigh-Ritz procedure in structural analysis, ) were generated by using trinomial asymptotic formula. They were then applied to displacement functions in three-dimensional free vibration analysis using the Rayleigh-Ritz method. As a result, it was confirmed that the analysis with orthogonal polynomial functions have better performance in convergence of analytical eigenvalues and expression of mode shapes of vibration than the analysis with simple power functions.

The aim of this paper is to clarify the housing characteristicsin Yamada-town and Takazaki-town, Miyazaki Prefecture. There are some differences on those towns, which are two-approached municipalities. So, in comparison with two-questionnaire survey result, the difference in both towns is clarified. These differences are regarded as is a secondary element of the consciousness forthe housing, and is an important in the future planning of the housing. The results are as follows. 1. In the Takasaki-town, it is proven that offers of information on the housing were especially necessary in the Takazaki-town. 2. In the Takazaki-town, Housings policy considering the relationship between adjoining municipalities seems to be necessary.

In education of reinforced concrete structure, experimental studies are so effectual. However, due to time and other restrictions, it is difficult to do them in our school. In this study, a method of educational experimenting using miniature simple beam specimens of reinforced concrete is proposed. As a result of the preliminary tests, it was confirmed that the production of specimens is easy for students and the behavior of specimens in loading tests represents well the basic characteristics of reinforced concrete structures.
