Rotating bending fatigue tests were carried out for an 18%Ni maraging steel to investigate the effect of hard shot peening on the fatigue strength. The fatigue strength increased markedly by the shot peening. In the case of single shot peening, the increase in the fatigue strength due to the shot peening depended on the shot size and the stress level. Fracture mode changed from the surface fracture in the short life region to the interior fracture in the long life region. And in the middle life region, both cracks initiated from the surface and the inside of material and lead to the final fracture. On the otherhand, in the case of double shot peeing, the fatigue strength in the short life region is greatly increased irrespective of the size of shot particles. The high fatigue strength is due to very small surface roughness and high compressive residual stress generated just under the surface due to the second stage of double shot peening using super-hard fine particles. These results were discussed from the effect of shot size on the surface roughness and the depth and magnitude of compressive residual stress and work hardening.

Description and empirical analysis of conductivity relaxation for conjugated polymer thin film are reviewed. In frequency domain the conductivity relaxation are described by the complex electric modulus M^* and the complex conductivity σ^*. The M^* is defined the inverse of the complex relative permittivity (dielectric constant) ε^*_τ. The conductivity relaxation are analyzed in detail using the M^* formalism with a Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts (KWW) distribution of relaxation times. This analysis is found to give an excellent description of the M^* data. The σ^* description is shown to be sensitive to an approximation of KWW function using this analysis. In addition to the charge carrier's contribution to the σ^* there is the dielectric polarization and the electrode polarization. It is realized anew that detailed information on the conductivity relaxation mechanisms can be extracted from the M^* description and the M^* formalism.

The significant points as regards housing policies are to introduce of the private sector vitalization and for elderly. So, using the data from the population census of Japan, the point that requires clarification is that 44 municipalities of Miyazaki Prefecture are classified according to kind of residence and tenure of dwelling, and I should point out those differences. The results are as follows. 1. The municipalities are classified into 5 groups. 2. The urbanity is so high that the rate of private households with related members 65 years of age and over per rented houses owned by local government and the rate of the rate of rented houses owned privately per principal households is large. 3. The characteristics as intermediate and mountainous area are so high that the rate of private households with related members 65 years of age and over per rented houses owned by privately is large.

Music motivates. People listen to music for pleasure. We recognize that we can use songs to motivate students and provide variety in a lesson. The focus of this article is studying English through songs. Two songs are used as examples. One is I've been working on the railroad. The other is Home on the range. Songs can be used to focus on the form of the language, including pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and sentence structures. Songs provide practice in listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. The student can make use of songs, and English words are much more memorable in combination with rhythm and melody.

Nowadays the universities and colleges are much more required to contribute and support industries, especially in their nearby areas. In this respect, Miyakonojo National College of Technology is going to proceed to the cooperative researches and developments with the industries of "Kirishima Industrial Club", which consists of more than 20 industries around Miyakonojo-NCT. We also cooperate with Miyazaki University, the Miyazaki Prefectural Government and Miyakonojo City Government to contribute to encourage the industries.
