As an estimator of an estimable parameter, Toda and Yamato (2001) introduced a linear combination of U-statistic which includes V-statistic and LB-statistic, which is derived the limit of Base estimate based on Dirichret prior distribution. We give the Edgeworth expantions of the standardized linear combination of the order n^<-1/2> in case that the kernel is not degenerate and give three examples. Moreover we give the approximation of Y-statistics of the order n^<-3>.

Theoretical analyses of three models were carried out in order to investigate the characteristics of a FGM in four point bending deformation. FEM analysis was carried out in the last model. The value of the Young's modulus is also calculated from four kinds of relational expressions estimating from a volume fraction. Results obtained are summarized as follows. The value of the Young's modulus becomes bigger in order, series coupling rule of mixture, Wakashima's equation. GMC. parallel coupling rule of mixture. Good agreement between the analytical result of the homogeneous material with a rectangular cross section by the proposed method and result required from the theoretical analysis is obtained. The absolute strain value in all models is smaller than the value in the homogeneous material with a rectangular cross section, and the strain values in models I to III coincide with each other. The stress distribution through the cross section in homogeneous materials becomes a straight line. The deformation of a FGM that the stress distribution becomes a curve is characterized.

On reprocessing spent metallic fuels in molten salts it is indispensable to develop a pyrochemical process for the electrochemically negative elements like alkali metal, alikaline-earth, rare-earth elements in order to use the melt baths repeatedly. For this purpose we have investigated the internal mobility of each cation from the electromigration methods and the electrochemical behavior of negative elements by electrochemical techniques. These experimental results allow us to conclude that the rare-earth, alkaline-earth, alkali metal halides were concentrated in the migration tubes and separated one another through electromigration process. In addition, in the following electrowinning process, each metal was selectively recovered in the liquid metallic cathodes. Furthermore, we suggested an originated pyrochemical process combined the countercurrent electromigration and the electrowinning methods in order to separate these elements effectively and recover them selectively each other. The characteristics of this process have the availability for the difference of the physicochemical properties such as the internal mobility and the decomposition potential for negative elements in the molten halide baths.

The catalysts with brookite crystal of TiO_2 other than anatase and rutile crystal were prepared. The relationship between calcinations temperature with preparation and properties were investigated by the amount of their crystals, the length of crystallite, surface area, UV-vis. spectra and the decomposition reaction of 2-propanol. Being based of these correlations, it was proposed that the factors increasing the catalytic activity are the amount of anatase crystal and surface area. Also, the TiO_2 catalyst having a brookite crystal that shifts absorption band to visible light regions seems to accelerate the reaction.

The hydration of 1-butene over proton-exchanged zeolites with various SiO_2/Al_2O_3 molar ratio has been studied. The conversion of 1-butene, the yield of 2-butanol, cis-2-butene, and trans-2-butene of products were increased with increment of SiO_2/Al_2O_3 molar ratio, which indicate decrement of hydrophobicity. Next the effect of the flow rate of water vapor to catalytic activity has been studied with proton-exchanged ultrastable Y-type zeolite (H-USY), which product ethyl methyl ketone (EMK). 2-Butanol and EMK were affected by the flow rare of water, but isomerization products were affected slightly. The different of their reactivity suggest that the active sites on the H-USY would be three species.

A purpose of this study is to make clear what kind of color the general people feel good and what kind of value they find in the objects by analyzing the endorsers added to Environmental Color 10 Selections of Public Colors Prize. The following results were proved. (1) The values found by them could be typified into 8 types, feeling of harmony with the surrounding buildings, feeling of harmony with the surrounding nature, feeling of unification, feeling of identity, color harmony in an object, feeling of calming down, friendly feeling and feeling of impact. (2) Relations between color and type of value could be made clear. In case of building, grayish brown series appear frequently on feeling of harmony with the surrounding nature and feeling of unification. In case of bridge, blue and purple appear frequently on feeling of harmony with the surrounding nature.

A purpose of this study is to make clear the zonal location of Tatami-room of Japanese contemporary detached houses to gain the knowledge for explaining the style of Japanese contemporary detached houses. The objects of this study are 1475 samples of houses carried in a housing magazine, Jutaku-kenchiku. I defined 6 types of the zonal location of Tatami-room and could make clear appearance ratio of each type and analyze relation between each appearance ratio and 4 factors, Date of completion, Division of a prefecture, Outward appearance style and Total floor area by using Theory of Quantification 2.6 types are Being next to living room through opening 1-ken wide, Being next to living room through opening a half-ken wide, Being next to both living room and entrance hall, Being next to dining room, Being in area of bedrooms and Being in front area of a house.

The research of the textbook on how to allot the figure etc. to help the student to understand a logical description seems to be a little. That is to say, there are few papers which studied the figure arrangement of a textbook from the physiological standpoint of the cerebrum. The purpose of our research is to investigate whether the figure arrangement of a present textbook is appropriate to the mathematics understanding of the student. So, we surveyed the favorite location of the figure of mathematics to the elementary school student etc by the questionnaire. In addition, we surveyed the position of the graph and the figure which had been written on the answer form so that the student could solve the problem of the mathematics examination paper easily. As a result of the analysis, the arrangement of the figure of which the functional difference of a right brain and a left brain was taken into consideration seems not to be in the present textbook that we investigated.
