The hydration of CaSO

10, but that of CaSO
4·

2H
2O mixed with Ca (OH)
2 is not retarded by Na
5P
3O
10.
The mechanism on hydration of the system, Na
5P
3O
10-CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O-H
2O and the system, Na
5P
3O
10-CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O-Ca (OH)
2-H
2O was studied by X-ray diffraction method, paperchromatogram, infrared absorption spectra etc..
From test results the following obtained.
(1) Na
5P
3O
10 is hydrolyzed in acid.
(2) On the system, Na
5P
3O
10-CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O-H
2O, the hydration of CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O is retarded and thereaction products are Na
2SO
4·10H
2O, CaO-P
2O
5 compound etc..
(3) On the system, Na
5P
3O
10-CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O-Ca (OH)
2-H
2O, the hydration of CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O is not retarded and the reaction products are Na
2SO
4·10H
2O, CaSO
4·2H
2O, Ca
5 (OH) (PO
4)
3 etc..
(4) With more increasing the addition of CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O in a 1.0% solution of Na
5P
3O
10, the value of pH and the concentration of P
2O
5 in liquid phase of these reaction were decrease.
(5) With more increasing the addition of Ca (OH)
2 in a 1.0% solution of Na
5P
3O
10 containing with 10 grams of CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O, the concentration of P
2O
5 in liguid phase of this reaction was decrease and the value of pH was increase.
(6) With mose increasing the addition of 1.0% solution of Na
5P
3O
10 in satulated solution of CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O, the concentration of Ca
++ in liquid phase was decrease and Ca
3P
2O
7·nH
2O which was produced inearly stage of these reaction was solved.
(7) The hydration of CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O is retarded by the complex of Na
5P
3O
10, but, on CaSO
4·
1/
2H
2O containing with Ca (OH)
2, Na
5P
3O
10 does not show the complex.
