Main purpose of this paper is to clear the characteristics of recent changing patterns of fisheries in small coastal villages, along the southern part of Izu peninsula by intensive field work, from view point of ecological geography.
The results are follows:
1) These villages are famous for femal diving fishermen, traditionally. Most of them are aged, but are engaging these activities, even now, because some kinds of shellfish are could be sold in high price in local market.
2) Tengusa, a kind of sea-weed, raw material of ager or Kanten, are decreased, in amount damaged by desertification of sea-bed.
3) Fishery space around Toji and Suzaki area could be divided into four grounds according to the categories of facilities and products: Coastal area, Off-shore area, Out of off-shore area and Deep-sea area.
