  • 機能性フィルム用ロールコーターの最近の動向

    The roll coaters have been used for mass production through this half century. During this period, the low melting point metals, such as Aluminum, Zinc have been used for the films of packaging, decoration and capacitor at high deposition speed. Recently, further technology with thin oxide metal layers, like higher transparency for conductive transparent oxide layer and for gas barrier layer, is in demand on the market. Moreover, several kinds of oxide metal layers for Anti Refection, Low-e became very popular, particularly in IT industries. The key points for coating multi oxide layers on wide (width) film in production, like Anti Refection film, High-Transparent Conductive film, High Refection film and Low-E film, are to sustain a good uniformity constant, stable control for reactive sputtering process and high productivity. This article introduces the latest topics and technology concerning Sputter Roll Coater for the realization of a stable production of multi layer oxide system on several kinds of films.

    Display performance of LCDs has been improved with the broadening of applications and the improving optical performance of polarizing films and retardation films for LCDs. In this article, we describe the present performance and the solutions of the problems with polarizing films and retardation films for LCDs, by the following 3 points 1) Image quality improvements with polarizing films, 2) Viewing angle improvement with retardation films, 3) Expanding applications with optical films.

    Anti-reflection films are formed on flexible substrate, such as TAC (Triacetyl Cellulose) and PET (Polyethyleneterephthalate). Recently, anti-reflection films with reflectance less than 0.3% and those higher than 1.0% are lined-up. These have high mechanical properties and have excellent protective/anti-soiling characteristics for LCD use.

    The alumina coated film has been praised as environmentally safe and its high-performances for various fields. The kinds of alumina coated film are monolayer type (non-coating type) and which formed the polymer layer on the alumina deposition layer (coating type). The use of the coating type is indispensable on the printing application without non-coating type that is low strength of adhesion between alumina layer and printing ink. As a development trend of the coating layer material, which is required that acid resistance and gas barrier property in addition to the improvement in the printing proper. It is considered that the coating type will expand market in the new application in future.

    The usual spectrophotometer reads the colorimetry value (for D50) by the numerical calculation from the total spectral reflectance under the standard illuminant A. The colorimetry value is not accurate value because the spectral fluorescent radiance factor is not the value of illuminant D50. The color printed on the paper which contained the fluorescent whitening agent is influenced by this spectral fluorescent radiance factor. A present color match ignoring the spectral fluorescent radiance factor doesn't create the accurate colorimetric color reproduction. We have examined how to measure the spectral fluorescent radiance factor of the fluorescent whitening agent contained in paper. Then, this article reports that the spectral fluorescent radiance factor under the arbitrary light could be estimated.
