The advantages of UV curable ink-jet are rapid curing, no-VOC and adhesion on non-porous substrates, then UV ink-jet is one of current trends in industrial ink-jet market. In this study, cationic UV curable jet-ink without solvent was designed, and the relationship between these formulas and the adhesion property on plastic substrate, PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) was also investigated. As the result, the adhesion of UV ink was mainly depended on the shrinkage of monomers, and also on the difference of surface tension between plastic substrate and ink itself. UV curable jet ink with epoxide and oxetane monomers showed perfect adhesion on PVC substrate. The characteristics as higher sensitivity and lower viscosity with keeping good adhesion on the PVC substrate were achieved even approx. 30% addition of di-functional vinyl ether monomer. The conversion ratio of monomers was increased by post-curing process with heating, then the adhesion became better than that without heating process.
