In the recent printing industry, the targets of printing press enhancement are following two points. One is the improvement of production efficiency, the other is the progress of visual and touch feeling value of printing product. The printing press manufacturers are developing their enhancement with aiming these targets as well. The final consumers of printing product become more and more individual-oriented, and the price and the originality of the products become a big concern. Therefore, the well balance between the cost of press and the added value from the press is the most important factors for its investment. The printing industry is aiming at take off from the passive industry. It is a must that the roll of press enhancement should be clearly defined in the company administration strategy, for the maximum efficiency with printing enhancement.

This topic of high value-added printing is quite common. Wide color gamut printing attracts attentions recently. There are seven-color printing and six color process printing as a representative of the wide color gamut printing. I explain a DIC six color system for an example about the status and problems of six-color process printing.

Web offset printing is under a severe environment due to typical factors identified for the overall printing industry and as indicated through technical analysis and projection. With the shrinking market and price competition which are especially prominent, it is almost certain that Japan will encounter a situation where potentials of the web finishing system, which is still at its dawn in Japan, will be favorably evaluated and high expectations be placed very quickly and by large. With the function to manufacture creative print processing products, increased level of added-value, and the ability to generate total production efficiency through application on conventional products, which has been proven already by domestic leading users, web finishing is expected to be a promising option for the entire industry as well as for each of the individual web offset printing companies in breaking through the current situation and to win future success.

Marketing structure for print buyers are going to shift to one to one from mass marketing. And print buyers expect to get higher response rate from their provided print promotion materials such as direct mail application. On the other hand, to meet the requirement from print buyers, print providers have to consider variable and personalization on the print promotion materials by using digital printing innovation. This paper investigates research report if using hybrid printing solution with inkjet technology would be one of effective differentiated strategies for commercial printing industry to survive, and give them certain direction and proposals from success case study.

The advantages of UV curable ink-jet are rapid curing, no-VOC and adhesion on non-porous substrates, then UV ink-jet is one of current trends in industrial ink-jet market. In this study, cationic UV curable jet-ink without solvent was designed, and the relationship between these formulas and the adhesion property on plastic substrate, PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) was also investigated. As the result, the adhesion of UV ink was mainly depended on the shrinkage of monomers, and also on the difference of surface tension between plastic substrate and ink itself. UV curable jet ink with epoxide and oxetane monomers showed perfect adhesion on PVC substrate. The characteristics as higher sensitivity and lower viscosity with keeping good adhesion on the PVC substrate were achieved even approx. 30% addition of di-functional vinyl ether monomer. The conversion ratio of monomers was increased by post-curing process with heating, then the adhesion became better than that without heating process.
