    Two ways in which general properties of printed colors can be diagramatically indicated are proposed.
    In one of them given color solid is expressed by the projection on two perpendciular Planes and in the other by its section of color solid. The former method can be convenientry adopted in routine work to select the proper set inks for the reproduction. And the latter describes the printed color in detail.
    As an example of application, the influence of paper and ink on the printed color is expressed in the first way. A practical application of the second method is described, in which experimental values are plotted together. with the Munsell loci in order to show three attributes of the reproduced color. The results are diagramatically compared with the values calculated by the Neugebauer equation.

    IGTユニバーサル型印刷適性試験機を用いて紙むけについて検討し, 完全紙むけ速度Vについて下記の実験式の得, 若干の解析を試みた。
    V=K11-F(x)/F(x)+K2mx+φ(T)/ηm…………(1)

    F(x); 被覆関数
    x; 版面インキ量
    η; インキ粘度
    T; 紙の表面強度
    である。
    φ(T)/ηmは, 用いたインキによるその紙の絶対紙むけ速度度であり, φ(T)=ηm{φ(T)/ηm}は, その紙の表面強度の大きさを示す絶対粘度速度積である。
    ここで, 紙むけに関するVVPの式は, 次のように改むべきである。
    φ(T)=ηmV-K2x
    (1) 式は, また, 紙むけが起こる表面要素の表面強度が, 隣接表面要素の強さに独立ではないということを示し, 網版印刷での紙むけの機構をも示唆する。

    Microscopic Structure of printed surface in both coated and non coated papers was studied. Printed surfaces which were built up by photoengraving, photo-gravure and lithographic processes were observed by scanning electron microscope.
    Quality of printed surface is closely related with its microscopic construction which can be observed by scanning electron microscope. Transference of ink from plate to paper is carried out in much different manner between coated and non coated papers. For coated paper, inking takes place rather regularly corresponding to the shape and size of dot, whereas, for non coated paper, irregular and three dimensional tangling between pigment of ink and fiber of paper is observed. The effect of difference of pring processes on microscopic structure of printed surface for coated paper is definitly detect-able because of its nearly two dimensional array of its nearly two bimensional array of pigmeot. For non coated paper, however, little effect of printing process is observed.
