We tried to measure the amount of dampening water (water amount) on a grained aluminium plate.
We considered that wettability might be related to the water amount on various grained surfaces.
We defined the water amount as the amount remained on the grained plate and measured this amount by the device built as a trial.
It is found f hat the plate grained with #300 abrasives have the most water amount. Our results are as follows.
1) Water amount is not influenced by the measured roughness of the grained surface but on the grained procedure and size of abrasives.
2) Water amount on the plate grained by brush is very small as compared with that by ball.
3) It is difficult to find a certain relationship between water amount and contact angle.
4) We tried to calculate the water film thickness on the grained plate and discussed the relationship between wettability and the thickness.
