I wanted to try one thing, in my comment, for denning the place occnpied by the Homei's theory of Neo-Naturalism in the stream of the literary theory of Naturalism in Japan. The start of his Neo-Naturalism will be found in the period when he began to write prose after poems. Therefore, we should know his thought appeared in "Shinpiteki Hanjushugi", "Shin Shizenshugi", "Hitsu no Tetsuri" which are taken for a trilogy of the Homei's literary theory, and his novel "Tandeki". We can't make clear Naturalism without knowing his own criticism of poems and how his poems were written. I tried in my comment to know the substance of "Natnralistic Presentationism", which is the dominating thought of "Shin Shizenshugi", from the relation between his criticism of poems and "Hanjushugi" and then to detect the difference between others' theory of naturalism and Homei's. That is the problem of "Practice and Art". Then I took it the intensive problem to study the mutual criticism between Homei and Hogetsu. The primary role of the literary theory of Neo-Naturalism was ended by the appearance of Homei's third critical essay "Hitsu no Tetsuri" and Masamune Hakucho's retirement from the Yomiuri.
