The theory that the author of Meitoku-ki is a Jishu priest has recently been supported by Tomikura Tokijiro. Kanai Kiyomitsu proves the fact that Yamana-shi is converted to either the Yugyo-school or the Shijo-school of Buddhism. Based on Kanai's point of view, the plot of "Yamana Mitstlyuki Saigo-dan, in the revised Meikoku-ki is analyzed. It is alsosuggested that the author has a certain relation to the Jishu-priests who belong to the Shijo-school.

Takekurabe is actively discussed, especially regarding the changing process of Midori. This is an attempt to analyze the time and space to which Midori, the central motif of this story, belongs, especially in retationship to "the bad place" called "Yoshiwara". This thesis consists of five chapters including the introduction. "Hajimeni" is the explanation of a "Girl in the Bad Place". It is explained that this thesis is written from two viewpoints; one, "a place called Akubasho" and two, "someone called shojo". The content is as follows: I. "Time and Space of the Girl" The people since Kinsei period have held a certain image of "Yoshiwara", the place where Midori has to live. This image is defined and discussed according to the changs that have been occuring. It is proven that Midori's girlhood is barely kept pure in this very dangerous period of time. II. Bullying Talk Itis illustrated through the fight scine at the summer festival that a cloud begins to hang on the "girlhood" of Midori. Chokichi's wordsi badly hurt the depths of Midori's mind. III. The Network of the Boys It is explained that the boys in front of the Daionji-Temple unconsciously play the, role of "killing the god" in front of Midori, the only outsider. IV. The Meaning of "Shimada Style Hair" In terms of the structure of the story, an attempt is made to give a conclusion to the disputes on the changes in Midori.

It is the accepted view that Tade kuu Mushi is a work which proves to be a turning point in Tanizaki literature. As his turning point, I suggest the disappearance of the image of "the eternal woman", once always embedded in Tanizaki's mind. When this overriding value is removed, Tanizaki is set free from the closed value system and comes to have the self-cofidence to describe the image of "the eternal woman" for himself. At this point he returns to classical literature. Discussing the "Uso"(lies)and "Honto"(truth)of the three women described in Tade kuu Mushi, the change in Tanizaki during this period is pursued. "Funka Wan(Nocturne)"in Miyazawa Kenji's Haru to Shura is discussed. An observation in the change in Kenji's image of Toshiko through the flash back to the actual appearance of Toshiko before Kenji's eyes is illustrated. This is the world Which Kenji experiences directly through his eyes prior to his rational recognition. It is not untill "Funka Wan" that Toshiko posthumously appears before Kenji. "Funka Wan " is in a different space, One which is not far away. By this hallucination, the literary event called Toshiko's death comes into perfection. It is suggested that termination of the nocturne in "Funka Wan" is the most important turning point of Kenji's, which brings him to the Night of the Galaxy Railway.
