On the one hand, linguists in the field such as generative and cognitive grammar have scarcely discussed how the linguistic knowledge actually exists in the brain. In generative grammar, for example, language acquisition device is thought to be in the black box. However, on the other hand, brain sciences have gradually revealed the structure of the brain and have made many discoveries in the field. One of them is the mirror system in the brain. This paper will show that how the syntactic knowledge can intrinsically exist in the brain is able to be discussed when the discoveries in the brain sciences are considered from the perspective of the discussions which have been held in Sato’s several papers since Sato (1995). Each word can contain the syntax of its own. Predicate words can especially carry the information of the sentence structures. A sentence pattern used for a verb is set by the meaning of the verb and the verb decides the meaning of the sentence in which the verb is used.

SANGAKU is a wooden board dedicated to the temple and shrines with written math questions and answers. This paperis a survey report of the two SANGAKU in Obara district, Shiroishi city, Miyagi prefecture. One of them is in Manzo-Inari Shrine, and was originally dedicated to Mitaki Shrine in 1875. The other was displayed in the Katsura-ya Hotel, and was　originally dedicated to Obara-Onsen-Yakushido Temple in 1916. They were dedicated by the people of the Saijo school (one of the old Japanese style mathematics school) and are rare in Miyagi. We surveyed these SANGAKU in the fall of 2020,　took pictures with digital camera and infrared camera, and checked the characters visually. In this paper, we will present the survey summary, consideration on some math questions, consideration of the reason why Saijo school was popular in this area, reprints, and infrared photo of figures.

KOMA-TAISEN is a battle tournament between spinning tops. The tournament is sponsored by a non-profit organization for manufacturing companies and has been held in various cities in Japan since 2012. The tournament attracted the interest of educational institutions with machine shops and small and medium-sized enterprises because the World Championships were held in 2015 and 2020. The battle of tournament competes for the length of time that two spinning tops are spinning in a small circular ring. The player of each team must stand on the ring side and rotate the spinning top with only the fingers of one hand. The spinning top must be manufactured to realize unique ideas under the constraints of specific dimensions. Therefore, each team is required to have advanced processing technology to finish the dimensions and center of gravity of parts with high accuracy. In this project, students who were interested in machining participated in KOMA-TAISEN held in Miyagi prefecture from 2018 to 2020 with the goal of winning the student category. The purpose of this project was to learn advanced machining technology using machine tools such as lathes, and to learn the workflow by PDCA cycle.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual situation of judo experience in classes at junior high school, and based on that, to examine the gradual and systematic guidance contents of throwing techniques using ICT in a case study. Subject was 43 1st grader one class in national institute of technology. Data included the review sheet, report, questionnaire survey. Qualitative data were analyzed based on meaning in description and interpreted in using triangulation among data. The sequence and content of the throwing techniques based on the gradual and systematic guidance in this study was positively accepted. In addition, group learning using ICT was positively accepted. Especially, Group learning using ICT contributed to motor skill improvement.

This report presents consideration of the effective use of e-books at NIT Sendai, Natori Campus Library. Since the introduction of e-book services in 2016, our library has been working on extending their publicity to the greatest degree possible at the college. They were most often used during the distance education period in 2020, when student attendance was suspended. We shall continue to consider ways in which students use e-books for their classes and research activities.

This report describes how the first guidance workshop on databases and electronic journals was held online at NIT Sendai, Natori Campus Library in 2020. We had held in-person workshops for years. The workshops were transformed to online workshops to prevent the spread of infectious diseases on campus. The program, which consists of several files and videos, was uploaded to the LMS to be announced to all college faculty staff members and students. Results show that the number of participants exceeded those of the last few years. We are now prepared to improve our programs for further use during the coming year.

This paper reports on the fourth and fifth Library Talks at NIT Sendai, Natori Campus Library, during the 2020 academic year. We managed to hold this college event at the library after students were permitted to come to campus to attend in-person classes. Because we reduced the venue seating capacity for infection prevention, we provided a video distribution service. The service was used by those who were unable to attend the event or who wanted to avoid crowded places.
