The essential oils in herbs, roots, fruits, and seedlings of
Foeniculum vulgare Miller, were examined in detail.
The yields of oil from fresh whole herbs were 0.19_??_0.25%. The main component was
trans-anethole (68.8_??_81.6% in the oil). And besides, α-pinene, camphene, β-pinene, β-myrcene, α-phellandrene, limonene, 1, 8-cineole, γ-terpinene,
p-cymene, fenchone, α- and β-fenchyl acetates, linalool, fenchyl alcohol, methylchavicol, and
cis-anethole were identified.
On the other hand, in the roots, the yield of oil was 0.12%. The oil consisted of dillapiole (87.3%), myristicine (2.8%),
trans-anethole (1.6%), and minor 17 components.
