The treatment of maxillary sinus cancer is described historically, particularly about the position and value of the author's treatments.
At present, the features of the author's treatment of maxillary sinus carcinoma is as follows: 1) Co-60 Gamma-ray irradiation of 5, 000 rad/25 fr/5 wks, 2) continuous intra-arterial infusion of 5-FU in a total dose of 2, 000 mg, 3) exposure and cleaning of the maxillary sinus, 4) cryqsurgery once a week, 5) curettage of necrotized masses a, 6) immunological therapy by. CWS, 7) maxillectomy when a recurrence is comfirmed, and 8) radical neck dissection for cervical metastasis.
The results by survival rate has been improving and the number of maxillectomy has declined gradually. The 3-year-survival rate is around 60-65%, and the percentage of maxillectomy among the survivers is about 15%.
