Two cases of blood boil are reported. The causative factors for the cases were considered to be bleeding into a mucous polyp or a vicious circle of inflammation and bleeding.
Blood boil is a clinical term, and the etiology seems to be multiple, so it is possible for several causative factors to exist. Regardless of the cause, the blood boil is considered to be a secondary pseudotumor. When a malignant tumor is suspected by the clinical symptoms, before a definite histopathological diagnosis is made, the possibility of a blood boil should be kept in mind.

Two patients with hypopharyngeal cancer were received two courses of neo-adjuvant chemo-therapy in combination with CDDP at a three-week interval. One developed tetany as the fi rst symptom of renal tubular damage. Then hypomagnesemia and hypocalcemia followed. Other adverse effects in this patient included myelosuppression and pulmonary fibrosis. In this paper, we report nephrotoxicity of CDDP.
The serum calcium and magnesium levels were 5mg/d l and 0.7mg/d l respectively when the total dose of CDDP reached 200mg. The simultaneous use of DKB, against a presumed infection might aggravated nephrotoxicity from CDDP.
Though Ccr24, BUN and Creatinine remained normal, urinary N-acetyl β-glucosaminidase and β2-microglobulin markedly increased after CDDP therapy.
It was concluded that the measurement of urinary NAG and β2-microglobulin were most useful in early detection of acute tubular damage induced CDDP.

We report a case of posterior ischemic optic neuropathy following polysinusectomy. Postoperatively, the patient complained of a visual disturbance on the operated side. Neuro-ophthalmologic examination revealed altitudinal hemianopsia and slightly impaired optic nerve function, but the optic disc was normal on ophthalmoscopic examination. Endoscopic examination and computed tomography revealed no injury to the optic canal at the posterior ethmoid sinus. These findings indicated that poor blood circulation to the optic nerve in the posterior optic canal was responsible for this condition, and it is suspected that Buerger's disease predisposes to such postoperative complications as ischmic optic neuropathy.

A case of giant chondrosarcoma arising from the nasal septum is reported.
The patient, 51-year-old female, visited our hospital complaining of right nasal obstruction and exophthalmus on the same side. Physical examination at the time of presentation revealed the markedly swollen nasal septum covered with intact mucosa. The nasal cavity was almost completely obliterated by the mass bilaterally. CT scan and MRI showed a giant mass with mottled calcification which filled bilateral nasal cavities, extending into the bilateral paranasal sinuses and the skullbase. Histological diagnosis of the specimen obtained from the anterior tip of the mass was chondrosarcoma with the differentiation of well to moderate degrees.
Surgery was performed through the sublabial transnasal approach under the operating microscope. Macroscopically the tumor was resected totally including the capsule.Although the skullbase and medial orbital walls were widely destroyed, no obvious invasion by the tumor was found in the dura of the skullbase. Eight months have passed uneventfully since the operation with no evidence of local recurrence or distant metastasis.
Twenty-seven cases of chondrosarcoma of the nasal septum reported in the literature were also analyzed.

Histopathological studies were carried out on a patient with multiple, recurrent adult laryngeal papilloma. The presence of HPV proteins in the upper layer of the epidermis was confirmed immunohistologically by the PAP method. In addition, using an HPV DNA typing kit (Tradename: Viratype) based on the dot method and developed by Toray Industries, Inc., HPV (6, 11) was detected, and HPV 6b was identified by the Southern blot method. The same studies were performed on 4 other patients with laryngeal papilloma, 3 patients with laryngeal dysplasia, a patient with carcinoma in situ, and 3 patients with larynogeal carcinoma, but the presence of HPV could not be demonstrated.
Investigation of the similarities between laryngeal papilloma, laryngeal carcinoma and lesion of the uterine cervix revealed the following points. (1) There is a correlation between condyloma acuminatum and laryngeal papilloma in terms of the epidemiological distribution. (2) There is similarity in terms of the HPV viral type. That is, the same viral types were detected from condyloma acuminatum and laryngeal papilloma, and from laryngeal carcinoma and lesions of the uterine cervix. (3) These lesions all occur in the transitional resion of the mucous epithelium. In view of these points, it is surmised that these diseases are very closely related. It will be necessary to carry out further epidemiological and molecular biology studies on these disease in the future.

Ameloblastoma is a relatively rare tumor. It occupies only 10% of tumors of the jaw. Maxillary ameloblastoma is much rarer than mandibular ameloblastoma. We report a case of maxillary ameloblastoma.
This tumor appears slightly more often in man than in woman, and may appear in any age.
No signs, symptoms or radiographic features are present which are specific to this tumor, so the diagnosis must depend on almost only pathologic tissue examination.
As for the treatment, this tumor must be surgically managed. And if curettage or excision is done, high recurrence will follow, so partial or total maxillectomy must be done. When enblock excision is done, the prognosis is good.

Most handicapped patients can have hearing test by the same response switch with the normal patients if they are mentally normal. But some of the patients with the disorders of upper limbs cannot have the test even if they are mentally normal because they cannot use the response switch. A new response switch is made for them; so called micro switch (OMRON 2-15 GNJ 55-B) was improved. The switch was off at the up right position and was on when it was pushed to any direction. This switch was tried on audiometry for the patients with the disorders of upper limbs such as tetraplegi a and rheumatoid arthritis. A patient with tetraplegia could easily push the switch with his jaw. Our new switch showed successful results.

A 58-year-old elementary school teacher was given 1.2mg Alprazolam for tinnitus and fullness of his right ear. Two weeks later, he began to heve hallucinations. These were psudohallucinations based on his consciousness dimmed. The overtax his powers and taking drugs had induced the consciousness dimmed.
