ジャーナル フリーOne hundred and ten cases of so-called Thornwaldt's disease observed in our clinic between 1962 and 1964, of which 6 interesting cases were discussed in regard to definition, etiology, manifestations, diagnosis and treatment. Thorough examinations of the epipharynx were employed on such patients with postnasal drips and dull occipital headache, in order to briing a correct diagnosis.

ジャーナル フリーIt has been observed that Cepharanthine gives favorable results in the treatment of leukopenia, encountered during the course of a malignant tumor, and at the same time this drug seems to increase other components of the blood.
Further observations imply that this drug has an interesting characteristic that this works on nerve synapses.

ジャーナル フリーIn present series, MINATOL-P a proteolytic agent has been administered to 48 patients with puruent chronic sinusitis 3 tablets daily for a period of 4 weeks.
Improvement of subjective symptoms were expressed in 77.1%, objective improvement of intranasal findings obtained in 58.3%, disappearance of purulent accumulation in the antrum seen in 2% and improvement of the mucosal function of the antrum confirmed in 4.5% of the series.

ジャーナル フリーEnpynase, a brand of proteolytic enzyme, has been administered 3 capsules daily to 30 patients with paranasal sinusitis.
In 17 patients, the drug was given concomitantly with local therapy such as nebulization and maxillary sinus puncture. While 13 patients have been treated with the drug postoperatively because of increased nasal discharge.
As regards to theraputic effect, marked improvement of symptoms obtained in 10 patients of the former group (58.8%) and in 8 of the latter (61.6%).
Generally, initial evidence of amelioration of the symptoms was noted within about 1 to 2 weeks after the administration.
Inprovement of subjective complaints, mainly headache was recognized more frequently than objective improvement of the clinical pictures.
It has been considered that Empynase was clinically effective against paranasal sinusitis, especially if it has been given to them in combination with conventional local treatments or sinus operation. Further observation on more cases will be necessary to evaluate the entity of this agent.
