i curves and intensity of specularly reflected light in the vicinity of critical angle are obtained by means of a goniophotometer (Fig. 1), where I is the intensity of reflected light and
i the rotating angle of the specimen.

i curves beyond the critical angle show strongly reflected light (R component) only in the vicinity of specular reflection. This R component is considered to give “Sheen” phenomena.
The intensity versus angle curves for specularly reflected light are obtained for the vicinity of critical angle, giving a break at critical angle in each case.
