Investment in Information Technology has been widely recognized as an indispensable tool in corporate management strategy. It is not wise, however, to simply ignore those who raise voices of concern as to whether it is truly worth their investment. It is important to note that introduction of IT systems increases corporate values not only by creating higher efficiency but rather by altering the business process as its inevitable consequence. By blending crucial aspects of Business Process Reengineering within the framework of IT project risk management, we will herewith present a new framework of risk assessment and management, where we integrate a factor to consider IT investment return to its clients into project control tactics of IT service companies.

In this paper, risk management problems in construction sites are studied. Some basic concepts and processes on risk management are reviewed firstly. Within the risk filtering, ranking, and management framework (RFRM) proposed by Haimes, et al. (2002),the hierarchical holographical modeling (HHM) is applied to the identification and the analysis of risk scenarios in construction sites.

In order to increase the safety in use, the display design of 57 kinds of infusion solution bags were renewed based on human centred design process. Design requirements were investigated at several hospitals and manufacturers, and design plans were created and tested. This design renewal activity will be reported.

According to international standard ISO/IEC-Guide51, the designer of the machine should foresee the accident, and prevent the accident as much as possible. In addition, ISO12100 which provides a general principle of the design requests the safety principle of 'State of the art' to the designer. That is, the machine is admitted "Safe" again through the document to judge, "Legitimate" in the age. A lot of international standards (individual C standard) have already been made to help making the document. Here is explained the developer of the service robot as an example about the responsibility of the engineers' safety.

The most of conventional information systems are based on the implicit premise that the users has already defined their desired information. However, the user's information requirements are not necessarily definite, and the user often only has a vague notion. In such a case, the user need to articulate his/her own concept. This study addressed the information presentation method to help the users make a concept-articulation type of purchase, for example. We constructed a system called S-Conart (Concept Articulator for Shoppers) to support the concept-articulation type of purchase based on the observations from an analysis of human behavior in actual purchase activities. The result of the experiments conducted using S-Conart suggests that S-Conart is expected to be useful for building the decision-making support system for concept-articulation type of shoppers.

I employed those theories for algorithms of computer, so that the computer can understand human behavior in terms of meaning or impression. This paper proposes a novel touch-based multi-user interactionenvironment for sharing experiences among a group of users. A largetouchable screen serves as a shared data space where multiple userssimultaneously interact with common interest images, sound andvideos by using simple hands movements and voice. The system provides anatural and easy-to-use interface to browse and select multimedia items supporting share experiences. The discussion revolves around aconcrete example stressing the main points of the system.

The simulation experiment by Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) has been developing instead of the actual experiment. In the actual CAE working, however, some issues on the simulation results appear. How to cope with them often depends on some experimental or institutional skill of the CAE engineers. In this article, we specially take up parameter tuning to recover inconsistency of thenumerical solutions by simulation experiment with the results of actual experiment. We propose how to cope with the parameter tuning by using Design of Experiment (DOE) considering reproducibility of the simulation results.

Modern digital signal processing theory mostly assumes that the sampling frequency is sufficiently high, and that the original analog signals are virtually band-limited. This further leads to a somewhat idealized processing of perfect signal reconstruction. In reality, however, this assumption is not even nearly satisfied, and anti-aliasing low-pass filters often induce serious distortions. This talk gives an overview on a new approach based on sampled-data control theory which has become very successful in the last decade. This new methodology enables us to design digital filters without recourse to the perfect band-limiting hypothesis, and designed filers often outperforms the existing ones.

A RobotPHONE is a Robotic User Interface (RUI) that uses robots as physical avatars for interpersonal communication. The shape and motion of RobotPHONE is continuously synchronized by a bilateral control method. Using RobotPHONE, users in remote locations can communicate shapes and motion with each other. In this paper, we will present the design of IP RobotPHONE, which is commercialized based on our research.
