Cimex japonicus control was carried out in an urban park in Obihiro, Hokkaido, Japan, due to the presence of C. japonicus in the cavities of Japanese white birch Betula platyphylla used for display. First, we covered the Japanese white birch with a plastic bag filled with carbon dioxide for three hours, but this did not eliminate C. japonicus. Second, we fumigated the plastic bag with Earth Red Iyana Mushi (for unpleasant insects) (Earth Corporation, Tokyo, Japan), which successfully eradicated C. japonicus.
