Measurements of characteristics and spectral sensitivity of intermediate diazo papers which are used for sub-original of drawings in factory copying process, are discribed in this report.
The exposure of samples is given by filtered 500W xenon lamp, and density (transmittance) of samples are measured at near ultra-violet region where the diazo printing light source radiation and sensitivity of diazo papers are the highest. The measurement of spectral sensitivity have done monochromatic light exposure by combination of xenon lamp and grating monochromator. Samples of these measurement are three paper bases and two acetate foil bases types, with ammonia vapor developing.
Results are summarized in the following.
(1) The sensitivity of intermediate papers are 0.15-0.5 times of general diazo papers, on xenon lamp exposure (see Table V)
(2) Density scale at 3650Å of intermediate papers are 0.5-1.4 for paper base samples and about 1.2 for acetate foil base samples. Base density (min. density) of each samples are 0.3-0.5 and 0.06-0.2 (see Table II).
(3) Spectral transmittance of unexposed images are the lowest in 4000-5000Å, but small peak (max. value 5-10 %) exsists sensitivity region of printing diazo papers (3300-4000Å), so the slope of characteristics curves, or gamma, vary in wavelength (see Table VII, Fig. 6-13).
(4) Maximum sensitivity wavelength of intermediate papers in these measurement are approximately 4000Å(paper base), 3800Å(acetate base) and sensitivity region width (half to half value) are about 900A, and shape of response curves are similar to general gas dev. type diazo papers.
