    The present paper reviews recent progress for about 5 years (1969-1973) of cyanine dyes concerning 1) the utilization of them in photographic industries and 2) fundamental studies.
    1) Utilization of them are classified as follows, briely; spectral sensitization of ordinary photographic emulsion, direct positive emulsion, inorganic and organic photoconductors, and also photographic characteristis, supersensitization (composed of various combinations.)
    2) As for fundamental studies, they cover the following items: absorption-, luminescent-, massspectra, and aggregation of cyanine dyes.

    We made 16 mm Computer Animation Film, constructing by the line figure of a man and horse that was generated on the screen by various direction of the Animation System of the Computer and Information Science Graduate Group at University of Pennsylvania, and by our motion experimental f ormula.
    The progress of Computer Animation Film is as follows.
    1) The motion experimental formula will be computer programming.
    2) This program will be imput on digital computer.
    3) Plotting image on print paper or on display system by computer will be checked.
    4) Title, figure and other action will be programming.
    5) Movie scenario is made and it will be programming.
    6) Movie program will be input on digital computer and it will be recording on magnetic tape.
    7) Film is produced on digital computer of film recorder by using this magetic tape.
    8) Computer Animotion Film is completed by the reversal development with the aid of Automatic Movie Developing Tank.

    The mechanism of bleaching reaction has not been established in detail as yet. In the present study, bleaching of silver plate was examined with the use of bleach and bleach-fix solution.
    In the bleach-fixing, the rate was held approximately constant over a period of processing, while, in the bleaching, it was progressively lowered with the time of process.
    Consequently, it appears that bleaching reaction is inhibited by the formation of silver halide layer on the surface silver plate.
    It is suggested that migration of electrons or silver ions through the layer account for the ratedetermining step in the process.
    It can be estimated that since bleaching reaction itself proceeds rapidly, it is not relevant to overall bleach processing speed, unless massive silver is formed in the development.

    The explanations for the direction of photocurrent due to Dember effect in silver halide emulsion grains were given to the cases, where spectrally sensitized or unsensitized AgBr were exposed to blue or green-red light. The rising portion of the signal observed is thought to be due to the diffusion of photoelectrons because of its decreasing by the addition of electron-trapping agents. The main relaxation species of the induced photovoltage is an interstitial silver ion because the activation energy of the electric conductivity obtained from the relaxation time of the signal is 0.39 ev, being equal to that of ionic conduction of the emulsion grains. The sign reversal as a function of wavelength for AgBr emulsion grains was explained, based on the variation of absorption coefficient of AgBr with wavelength.

    Color differences defined by ULCS (Uniform Lightness and Chromaticness Scale System) are applied to detect the boundary-line from color picture.
    A portion of boundary in color picture is characterized by a mixture of Hue, Saturation and Lightness. In order to apply such factors to detect the boundary-line, the author introduced the thresholds defined by the color differences with uniform lightness and chromaticness, namely CIE color difference and Cube-Root Space color difference by Glasser.
    Experimental results of boundary-line detection to the human face on the color film Ektachrome-X are shown.
