A new direct thermal full color recording system named “TA” (=Thermo-Autochrome) has been developed. The TA system creates high quality continuous tone full color prints without accompanying any wastes such as an ink ribbon or an ink cartridge.
Since, in TA system, yellow, magenta and cyan layers are printed separately by different thermal energy ranges, TA accompanies a little overlaps of energy-sensitivities and has higher gammas, compared with dye sublimation systems. To improve the image quality, solving these issues are needed.
In our TA printer, we solved the former by using 3D-LUT, and the latter by using the printing method, which includes the bias energy as a part of the thermal control range.
