Printed color images, which were printed using Epson's PM-880C inkjet printer, were displayed without glass frames in a variety of typical home environments. The degree of discoloration for samples in the home environments and that of samples subjected to an accelerated ozone-exposure test were compared. From this comparison, we estimate that typical yearly home exposure, including a 2 sigma safety margin, is equivalent to an accumulated ozone exposure of 40 ppm⋅h. Additionally, we tested the ozone fastness of a new set of inkjet dyes, which were improved at the molecular level by addition of electron-withdrawing groups. This new set yielded printed images on Epson's Premium Glossy Photo Paper that have ambient durability of more than 10 years without a glass frame in home environments, an eminently practical level that has heretofore been unobtainable.
