Mr. Reilly reviews his more than 30 years' experience with Preserving Photographs in Museums and Archives. He describes about the early beginnings of the field and trace its evolution in Japan, Europe, and the USA. During these decades photography has become much more important and valuable, and the techniques and approaches to preservation have dramatically changed. He refers to the future of the field now that silver halide imaging has given way to digital imaging.
