Cytoplasmic male sterility was induced by treating with acriflavine (1500ppm), streptomycin (1500ppm) and ethidium bromide (2000ppm). It was shown that the normal cytoplasm converted to the sterile cytoplasm which is equivalent with S cytoplasm of spontaneous origin. The artificial induction of male sterile cytoplasm may be very useful tool for the hybrid seed production of sugar beet breeding.
