Haptoglobin determines the site of Hb uptake when the Hb was administered intravenously: Hb-Hp and free Hb distribute into the liver and kidneys, respectively. There exists a certain limit in the liver to incorporate Hb-Hp suggesting the presence of some mechanism on liver cell membrane to recognize or incorporate the molecule.
1. The full length of a callosal projection from a region in area 3 to the contralateral cortex, especially to the homotopic area has been demonstrated with the autoradiographic study. Projections toward the contralateral insular cortex and bilateral striate regions were also shown. 2. The association fibres on the ipsilateral side could be clearly followed in the case with survival time of 8 hours. In contrast, fibres passing through the operated region were inevitably stained in Nauta preparations and so the connections of the association fibres were extremely difficult to analyse. It is suggested that the choice of the suitable time after the injection of a radioisotope makes it possible to obtain the informations in respect to fibre connection especially in the vicinity of the injected region.
