    The status of the primary group, predisposition (intelligence and character) and the view of life and world and the logics of the prostitute and non-prostitute Inmate in Women's Rehabilitations Home in Japan after World War II are studied. 2. On the primary group it is found that its status is more or less similar to that of Geishagirl and “Waitress” rather thau “legal” prostitutes in prewar Japan. 3. Intelligence of the Inmates in these Home on the average is more or less lower than the average intelligence grade of Japenese women of the same age groups. Also the intelligence is lower in the prostitute groups than in non prostitute groups. 4. The proportion of the persons with abnormal character is greater in these Inmates than in the average Japanese women but no difference between these two Inmate-groups is found. 5. The logics and the view of life and world of these women are not consistent and this tendency is stronger in the home, where the christian discipline is adopted. 6. The results of these researches indicate the necessity of psychiatric examination of personality (including the grade of intelligence of Inmates) at the time of their entrance to Homes.

    Prof. L.E. Peltier reported a useful application of plaster of Paris to fill defects in bone. We are much interested in this common material. But, thinking to need our own experiment before the clinical application, we tried the same experiment. Plaster of Paris of dental grade was mixed with water and al.owed to set in a suitable basin. Then the set mass was cut in rectangular collumms, and sterilized by dry heat in an oven. The columns were inserted into the muscles and articial bone defects of rabbits, and X-ray, histol·gical and biochemical examinations were made. The conclusion is as follows. (1) The absorption of inserted plaster of Paris was seen markedly from the 3rd week. The bone formation was visible from the 4th week and finished in the 6th or 7th week and never delayed or disturbed in comparison with the control examination. (2) Harmless clinical application will be expected, becausc the material (i) can be completely sterilized, and (ii) is free from fear that is might stimulate the tissue for a long time as a non soluble foreign body, and (iii) contains no antigenic substances.

    The author and others reported the antigenic structures of several species of the genus Saccharomyces through antigen analyses. However, since they are derived from the standard strains, there must exist the identical antigenic structures among the standard and many other strains as a prequisite for possible service of the species identification. Therefore, the author collected many authentic strains of the genus, and the identification was carried out by the slide agglutination tests with monospecific or absorbed antisera prepared on the basis of the antigenic structures. Biological characteristics of the strain were examined by usual methods, and then both identifications were compared each other. The results of the experiments indicated that most strains had the same antigenic structures of the standard strains, and wrong identifications were observed in several cases, if they should be based on biological and serological characteristics. Therefore, the accurate identification must not be performed only on biology, but also on serology, and the antigenic structures of the genus are reliable for the classification of the genus Saccharomyces.

    The authentic strains of the five speciesl of the genus Hansenu'a were used for antigea anayses by means of slide agglutination method with monospecific or absorbed antisera homologous to antigens of the genus Candida. Antiserum of a species was absorbed repeatedly with heated cells of several species of the genus Candida in order to find a new antigen until the absorbed antiserum was exhausted. Antigenic structures of the species were confirmed by the reciprocal absorption method. H. subpelliculosa and H. silvicola have thermostable antigens 1, 2, 14, 15, 16 and 20 as does H. anomala, H. suaveolens and H. mrakii have antigens 1, 2, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20 and 21 as does H. saturnus, H. californica has antigens 1, 2, 14, 15, 16, 17, 10, 21 and 22. Every species does not have any thermolabile antigen.

    In a previous report antigenic structures of the six species of the genus Rhodotorula were indicated through the antigen analyses. The standard strain used for antigen analyses were authentic, but the antigenic structure of one species was derived from the single strain. Therefore, five stock cultures other than the standard strains and sixty-one strains which were isolated from oral cavities and from stools, were collected by the author. An existence of antigens was examined by the slide agglutination method with monospecific or absorbed antisera based on the antigenic structures of the genus Rhodotorula and the isolates were identified by serology. Then biological characteristics of the strains were examined by the usual methods, and species identifications were established independently on the basis of the biological characteristics. Both identifications correspond each other except two strains. Consequently, the antigenic structures will serve as the reliable basis of the classification of the genus Rhodotorula.

    There are serological cross reactions among many species of the genera Candida and Debaryomyces. Five species of the genus Debaryomyces were obtained for antigen analyses. The experiments were carried out through the slide agglutination method using monospecific or absorbed antisera homologous to the antigens of the genus Candida. Then, antiserum of a species was absorbed repeatedly with heated cells of several species of the genus Candida in order to find a new antigen, until the absorbed antiserum was exhausted. Antigenic structures of the species were confirmed by the reciprocal absorption. The new thermostable antigen 27 and the thermolabile antigen i were found in D. globosus. Antigenic structures of the five species were shown as follows : D. hansenii, D. kloeckeri, D. nicotianae and D. membranaefaciens have the thermostable antigens 1, 2, 3, 4, 9 and 14, and no thermolabile antigen. D. globosus has the thermostable antigens 1, 3, 10, 24 and 27, and the thermolabile antigen i.

    (1) A study was undertaken for the purpose of determining if Candida albicans would develop resistance in vitro to polymyxin B, phenyl mercury acetate (mercetat), trichomycin, and brilliant green.It was found that Candida albicans does not develop any resistance to the three drugs except polymyxin B. With polymyxin B only, there was a moderate build up of resistance (8 folds). (2) The resistant strain to polymyxin B showed cross resistance with colistin and was more sensitive to trichomycin than parent strain. (3) Morphologically, the resistant strain seemed to be little alterable.It was found that resistant strain has no ability to produce chlamydospore and shows lowe rability in fermentation comparing with parent strain. (4) The growth of resiStant strain seemed to be the same or slightly better than parent strain. (5) The pathogenicity of resistant strain to mice was considered to be slightly stronger than that of parent strain. (6) On the pathologic and histologic examination of mice organs, it was found that resistant strain brings about stronger necrosis of tissue and cellular infiltration particulary in heart than parent strain. On the examination of morphology of fungi in tissue, mainly pseudomycelial form was found in mice inoculated with retistant strain, in con'rast to yeast form seen in those of parent strain. (7) The resistant strain recovered its sensitivity similar to that of the parent strain after 14 trrnsfers with one month interval in drug·free medium.

    30 Schizophrene wurden mit einem neuen Neurolepticum Perphenazin behandelt und folgende Ergebnisse erzielt : 5 erheblich gebessert, 16 gebessert, 9 ungebessert. Diese Arznei bewirkt einerseits mehr oder weniger die Antriebssteigerung der Kranken, andereseits hänfig starke und vielfältige Extrapyramidalerscheinungen (z. B. Zungen-Schlundsyndrom nach Kulenkampff u. Tarnow, Torticollis spasticus, dystone Bewegungen des Rumpfes, athetoide Bewegumgen der Finger und Blickkrämpfe-kurz gefasst, Hyperkinetisch-dystones Syndrom), was die besondere Wirkungseigenschaft dieser Arznei ist. Diese Beiden, Antriebssteigerung und hyperkinetisch-dystone Syndrome verlaufen meist korrelativ. Ausserdem wurden die hyperkinetischdystonen Syndrome tragenden Kranken mit gutem Erfolg behandelt. Delay vermutet nun, dass die Fähigkeit verschiedener Phenothiazin-Derivate, extrapyramidalmotorische Symptome zu provozieren, als Gradmesser der therapeutischen Wirksamkeit anzusehen sei. Auf Grund von unsrer Erfahrung stimmen wir seiner Meinung zu.
