In these studies several amino acids solutions of various composition were used before and after surgical operations, in order to see their effects on the values of free amino acids in blood plasma and urine of the patients transfused with mixed crystalline amino acids. Farther, the effects of plasma expander used jointly with crystalline amino acids, and the differences between the results of the transfusion of crystalline amino acids and that of the transfusion of stored blood were studied. The results were as follows :
1) Immediately after the transfusion of crystalline amino acids solution into the patients, there was no proportional relation perceived between the values of each free amino acids in blood plasma and urine of the patients and the quantity of each crystalline amino acids transfused.
2) The increased total value of free amino acids in blood plasma and urine decreased gradually, but the value in blood plasma after three hours was higher than that of after an hour.
3) The total value of free amino acids in blood plasma increased remarkably before operation, but a notable increase of that in urine was clearly witnessed after operation. The increase of Threonine and Proline was marked before operation, while that of Threonine, Proline and Glycine was distinctly observed after operation.
4) The values of free amino acids in blood plasma and urine were not parallel with that of transfused solutions of each kind. The difference of composition ratio of those solutions disturbed the free amino acids pattern in blood plasma and urine.
5) The values of free amino acids in blood plasma and urine of the patients suffering from cancer and ulcer of stomach were increased more in contrast with those of the patients of other diseases ;
when crystalline amino acids solutions were transfused into the patients, the values of free amino acids of gastric cancer were the highest, and those of the contrast group were the lowest.
6) The utilization rate of the amino acids showed about 90% before operation, but 77.6-63% after operation. In accordance with the variance of composition, it showed the difference of 11-13%.
7) By applying P. V. P. with crystalline amino acids, a slight increase of amino acids was seen remaining in blood, and when these two were used in succession, the utilization rate of the amino acids was considerably down on the fifth day before and afteb operation.
8) The transfusion of crystalline amino acids solution showed a similar alteration of the total value of free amino acids with that of stored blood with the lapse of days. The total value of free amino acids in stored blood transfusion increased remarkably in urine before operation and in blood plasma after operation, and these results showed just a contrary phenomenon to it in crystalline amino acids transfusion.
