Two species of shrews collected in South Saghalien have been examined for cestode parasites, and the following cestodes are recorded : Ditestolepis longicirrosa SAWADA et HARADA, 1990 in Sorex caecutiens THOMAS, Neoskrjabinolepis singularis (CHOLODKOVSKY, 1913) and Soricinia japonica SAWADA et KOYASU, 1991 in Sorex unguiculatus DOBSON.

Spirorbid species brood their embryos inside either the tube or operculum. THORP (1975) established the scheme of the evolution of brooding chamber of spirorbids, providing the link-species between Apomatus and cup-like opercular incubators. I note two serpulid species which can be considered as link-species between primitive Serpulidae and Spirorbidae. Rhodopsis pusilla has a bowl-like operculum and forming brood pouches on its tube walls, thus this species is a better link between Apomatus and cup-like opercular incubators, Duplicaria-like spirorbids. Salmacina spp. exhibiting tube incubation might be the link-species between serpulids and tube-incubating spirorbids.

A new species of harpacticoid copepod, Attheyella yesoensis, is described from Hokkaido, northern Japan. This species was previously recorded as A. idahoensis (MARSH) from Hokkaido by the author. The new species is close to A. idahoensis, A. alaskaensis, A. gladkovi sibirica, A. coreana, A. coiffaiti, and A. nakaii. The affinity of these species with the new species is discussed.

A bathyal pagurid hermit crab, Pagurus townsendi (BENEDICT, 1892), is described based on 28 specimens collected from the Pacific coast of northern Japan at the depths of 325 to 740 m. P. townsendi resembles apparently P. trigonocheirus (STIMPSON, 1858) but it is distinguished readily by having more acute rostrum, dilated corneae, more elongate right cheliped, and longer dactyl of the left chela, as well as the coloration. The present material represents the first record of this rare species from the Western Pacific.
