Studies on the independence (or interaction) of the Stiles' π mechanisms, which were popular in the 1960's, have declined remarkably in number since the middle of the 1970's. Recent inactivity in that field could be ascribed to the change in the paradigm in research, from the paradigm of the trichromatism to that of the opponent-colors theory. It can be said that the works of Pugh (1976) and King-Smith and Carden (1976) have provided the impetus for such a change in the paradigm. In the present report, referring to the Stiles' π mechanisms, an attempt was made to reanalyse the results obtained under the classical paradigm, particulary the results showing independence, in terms of the models offered under the new paradigm.
