  • SFドレッシング法におけるツルーイング性能の向上

    A Grinding is a method to form a shape by rotating a wheel rubbing against the object. Dressing for the grinding wheel is consisted of two processes : truing and sharpening. When super-abrasive wheels are used, it is very difficult to form in the truing process. In order to improve the process, our laboratory has developed called SF (Side Face) dressing process. It is to use a vertical rotary dresser travelling across the diamond wheel with the same speed condition. This paper reports the improvement of truing efficiently through the analysis of SN ratio. As the ideal function, it was considered that the wear of the diamond wheel is larger-the-better and the wear of the dresser is smaller-the-better. The total of these two SN ratio was used for the analysis. As the result, the improved compared with current condition was estimated as 13.72 db and confirmed as 12.66 db.

    Photographic processing solutions contain many components which change variously under different processing conditions in the photographic market. Therefore, it is difficult to diagnose the quality of photographic processing solutions. In most cases, the quality has been qualitatively judged by comparing their components with a fresh solution. In order to quantitatively diagnose quality, a Mahalanobis space was constructed using data including processing conditions and solution components of approximately 100 users in the market. The users were selected from those which have been operating without any photographic problems. From the solutions which caused photographic problems in the market,Mahalanobis distances were calculated. The study showed that it was possible to discriminate abnormal solutions at a certain threshold. It was also found possible to identify the items which contribute to detecting abnormal solutions.

    The optimization of a non-contact type Electric-Potential Sensor was conducted using the Quality Engineering approach. This type of sensor is used for the electronic photographic devices such as copy machines. The electric potential of the drum surface varies due to environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity or endurance. The sensor measures electric potential and gives feedback to the image formation process. A 6 db gain was confirmed after the optimization, which is equivalent to an annual gain of 7.5 million yen.

    In our previous study on a spray drying granulation process to improve yield, the relationship between time and yield was used for SN ratio calculations. The study resulted a significant improvement on the reduction of the product sticking to dryer surface, suggesting the importance of viewing the functionality of the process. In this report, analysis method, dynamic operating window, was used based on suggestions given by Dr. Taguchi. In the previous study, the following function was considered : Y=βM where y is the amount of material fed into the dryer and M is yield. But the water in the feeding material evaporates, and part of the product sticks to dryer surface, therefore, M is not directly to y. Similar to chemical reactions, the amount of material stuck on the dryer surface was considered the side reaction, denoted by M2. Also the dried powder (the objective product) was considered as the main reaction, denoted by M1. The purpose for the dynamic operating window it is to maximize the difference between situations M1 and M2, i. e., to maximize the main reaction and minimize the side reaction. Comparing the two analysis methods, the new analysis showed a better conformance on the gains of both SN ratio and sensitivity, indicating the superiority of the dynamic operating window approach.

    In the soldering process using He-Ne laser, the automation of solder joint inspection is becoming more and more popular. There are many inspection methods using different inspection logic. In this paper, the MTS method was applied for the selection of useful logic (item). Also the possibility of using the raw data which indicate laser reflection change in conjunction with the use of Mahalanobis Distance was studied. It was confirmed from the study that useful inspection logic could be effectively identified. It was also concluded that the MTS method is extremely useful for such an identification process. Since it was found possible to use the raw data of laser reflection together with the MTS method without using inspection logic, further studies could help to speed up inspection and reduce inspection cost.

    In this case, a new approach for appearance defect inspection using Mahalanobis-Taguchi System was applied. Images from a group of "good" (normal) products were transformed into wave patterns. From these normal patterns, "differential characteristic" and "integral characteristic" data were picked up. A Mahalanobis space was constructed using these data. Then, the image of a product to be inspected was transformed into a group of wave patterns, and the differential and integral characteristics were picked up from the patterns. The data from these characteristics were calculated with the said Mahalanobis Space to obtain a Mahalanobis Distance. This is the distance showing the deviation from the good products, and is used to distinguish a defective from good products.
