    In this report, I explain the current phase of quality control for "Green Tourism" business, which is an interregional exchange project to supply a countermeasure for depopulation in rural areas, using the natural and cultural asset in local area. In contrast to industrial products, it is difficult to conduct quality evaluations of tourism businesses that only provide experiences as a product. Investigation of the farm-inn business in Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa prefecture, Japan, which offers service to many visitors from many countries, has made clear that there were many problems in the area of quality control of green tourism that needed to be resolved. For example, there were no prepared, detailed manuals for unanticipated problems, and an analysis of experiences with user comments and complaints was lacking. To resolve these issues the simultaneous pursuit of variety and service quality control are required.

    Although four years go by since the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Accident, public anxiety for consuming foods produced in the surrounding area of the plant is still less likely to be mitigated enough. The anxiety may be explained not only by people's negative perceptions (i.e., overestimations) for the health risk of low-dose radiation exposure but also by their perceptional ambiguities. These negativeness and ambiguity might have been caused or enhanced by the imprecise, biased or conflicting information transmitted from several sources - TV, newspaper, internet, social network services, academic experts, Japanese government, food industry, etc. From such a viewpoint, this article summarized the author's past researches regarding (i) which of information sources for the health risk of radiation exposure people have accessed and relied on, (ii) how public trust on the experts change if their risk assessments are conflicting, and (iii) how each information source relates to the negativeness and ambiguity of the public risk perception.

    The speaking plant approach (SPA) is becoming an indispensable concept to maximize profit of agricultural production in current greenhouses. This concept is defines the optimal plant cultivation conditions should be achieved by monitoring the physiological status of the plants. Chlorophyll fluorescence imaging technique is useful to evaluate the photosynthetic functions of plant without touching. We developed a chlorophyll fluorescence imaging robot with the features of feasible design, automated simple operation and low-cost for implementation in commercial tomato production greenhouse. This system images chlorophyll fluorescence induction phenomenon, a dynamic change in chlorophyll fluorescence intensity induced by an excitation light under dark condition and analyses the shape of the induction curve, the time course of the chlorophyll fluorescence intensity during this phenomenon. We applied this robot to grasp a spatial distribution and daily fluctuation of photosynthetic function of hydroponically-cultivated tomato plants in a semi-commercial greenhouse. In addition, this robot also provide the information on the daily changes in stem elongation rate. Such high spatial and temporal resolution information is useful for the precise management of plant growth in greenhouse. The developed chlorophyll fluorescence imaging robot is expected to be implemented in commercial tomato production greenhouse in the near future.

    Taguchi's method has been used for finding the optimal operating conditions and/or the solutions to product design by desensitizing the influence of noise factors. We can frequently find success stories in the manufacturing industry ; however, they are rarely found in the food industry. It is important to achieve robustness not only in the manufacturing industry but also in the food industry. If so, every customer can regularly obtain high quality (tasty) products. AHJIKAN CO., LTD has researched cultivation conditions of sweet potatos, corn and Shitake mushrooms through robust parameter designs and the MT system. Sweet potatos and corn are grown in natural setting, while the Shitake mushrooms are grown in a greenhouse, to match natural conditions. These agricultural experiments that use quality engineering offer a new challenge. We show examples of sweet potato, corn and Shitake mushroom cultivation. A Key challenge is that it takes a long time to obtain complete data in those experiments, which we overcome by introducing new techniques.

    Ricoh has faced two business turning points, once in the late 1960s and another in the early 90s. Both times we have achieved serious management reforms to shift from an extreme "Product-out" constitution to becoming "Market-out" through our challenges for the Deming Prize and the Japan Quality Award. With the former, we learned such things as "Facing the facts", "Root cause analysis of unevenness", or "Full participation organization". With the latter, we have learned "Market-out", "Value creation", and "Self-assessment". As a result, our company has become more flexible to correspond to the changing environment, and we were successful to grow both our top line and bottom line for 13 consecutive years regardless of the tough economic environment. Through TQM activities, Japanese companies have established a certain recognition of Japan as a brand for high quality. Today, within this highly competitive global world, we have a new challenge we must face which is "Management to create customer value." To do so, further understanding of TQM and strong leadership are essential for top management.

    タグチのT法は,田口玄一博士により提案されたMTシステムの1つの手法であり,予測を目的としている.T法の項目選択のステップでは,他のMTシステムと同様に直交表を用いることが提案されてきた.しかし,事例研究は数多く発表されているものの,その原理や理論的な性質については十分な検討・研究がなされていない.本稿では,まず,T法における直交表を用いた項目選択について,その特徴を体系的に検討する.そして,導かれた弱点を克服するための方法として,直交表を用いずに,変数増減法による項目選択方法を導入する.次に,これらの方法による項目選択の特徴を複数のモデルに基づいてシミュレーションにより比較検討する.その際,項目間の先行関係・相関関係を重視するためにパス図に基づいてモデル化し,それらに従うデータを発生させ,シミュレーションにより検討する.その結果,T法での直交表を用いた項目選択では,特定項目の過大評価は避けられないことが判明した.一方,変数増減法を用いることで,項目の過大評価を避け,多くのモデルにおいて予測精度を向上できることがわかった.

    パラメータ設計はシステムの品質改善のために幅広く利用されている.しかし,目的特性を使ったパラメータ設計は,システムをブラックボックスにしてしまうため,品質改善のメカニズムに関する情報を得ることが難しい.またパラメータ設計は実験規模が大きく,解析完了までの工数が増大することもあり,システム選択段階の開発での活用が少ない.本論文では,システム選択段階の開発に有効な新たな開発手法CS-T法(Causality Search T-Method)を提案する.CS-T法は目的特性パート,T法パート,直交表パートからなる.T法パートでは,現象解明のための因子(現象説明因子)を取り上げる.現象説明因子は,水準を制御できない因子である.直交表パートには制御因子を割付け,制御因子の水準組合せに従ってサンプルを作成し,目的特性を計測する.目的特性とT法パートの現象説明因子を使って,T法解析を逐次的に実施し,解析精度を確保できる必要最小限のサンプル数を判断しながら,目的特性と因果関係を持つ現象説明因子を抽出する.CS-T法により,目的特性の改善メカニズムを効率的に把握し,開発目標を達成するための新たなシステムや制御因子を考案することが可能になる.
