2 (M=Co, Fe, and Ni)
indicate that the relative intensities of the anomalous species produced through the EC-decay depend on the kind of the host matrix. The largest intensity was observed with the cobalt (II) matrix, and the smallest with the iron (II) matrix. Emission spectra of 57Co-
labelled [Co (2-CH

2 were also studied. The high-spin state (
5T2)
was predominantly observed at 4.2 K in the emission spectrum, while the low-spin state (
1A1)
was mainly ob-served in the absorption spectrum at 78 K. The results are discussed in terms of the stability of the lattice.

In order to clarify the accumulation mechanism of 111In
in malignant tumor, subcellular distribution of 111In
was quantitatively determined. Buffalo rats bearing Morris hepatoma 7316A were injected intraperitoneally 111In-
chloride and tumor tissues were removed 24 hours later. Subcellular fractionation of tumor tissues were carried out according to the . method of C. de Duve, et al, and radioactivity of each fraction was counted. Most of the total radioactivity was distributed among the soluble, nuclear and lysosomal fractions. On account of its. low protein content, the relative specific radioactivity was the highest in the lysosomal fraction. The lysosomal fraction was solubilized gradually and the resultant stepwise release of 111In
and acid phosphatase activity were measured. There was a close relationship between them. From these results it was concluded that 111In
accumulated especially in the lysosomes. In the electron micrography the tumor lysosomes had already engulfed many foreign materials, so that the lysosomal function would be depressed.

We studied both morphologically and functionally the clinical application of 99mTc-
HIDA in 130 patients with various hepatobiliary diseases. Highly resolved images were obtained from morphological diagnosis. However, in the patients with high bilirubin levels of over 4-6 mg/dl, liver uptakes of 99mTc-
HIDA were disturbed. From the bileduct images, we could prove calculi or extension of the bileduct. We could also prove the abnormal localization or extension of the gallbladder, but failed to visualize gallstones as defective images. The diagnostic method of contractile function of the gallbladder was examined by comparison of the activities of the gallbladder before and after oral administration of yellow egg. In normal cases, the activity of the gallbladder was decreased to 5-30%. The liver uptake rate (
Ku)
and excretion rate (
Ke)
in the normal cases were 12.7%min and 1.89%min, respectively; hence, it was suggested that the metabolism of 99mTc-
HIDA was turning over faster than that of 131I-
BSP. Ku and Ke were low in the patients with hepatobiliary diseases. The correlation between Ku, total bilirubin level and ICG, and also that between Ke, total bilirubin level, γG TP and Al. Pase were recognized. In the normal cases, the blood concentration ratio 30 and 60 min to 5 min after injection were 27.7% and 16.1%, respectively, and higher values were obtained in the patients with liver functional diseases.

In this paper the authors described a new method of quantitative evaluation of adrenal scintigraphy. Six days after the injection of 400μCi of 131I
adosterol, scintigrams were recorded using a scintillation camera-minicomputer-on-line system in a preset time of 999.9 second. Counts in all the matrices (64×64) were printed out and following indices were calculated in transverse slices across the center of the adrenal glands of both sides, and used for the quantitative evaluation of the scintigraphy.Total counts: total of counts recorded in all the matrices in a slice across the adrenal gland of either side.Back counts: total counts/number of significant matrices.Peak counts: maximum counts obtained in adrenal region.High counts: sum of counts exceed“back counts”in adrenal region.Width: the number of continuing matrices with counts exceeded“back counts”in adrenal region. In a clinical application in 15 cases including 4 cases with bilateral hyperfunction, 4 cases with unilateral hyperfunction and 7 cases of control group, following results were obtained: 1) In control group the ratio of right to left“peak counts”was nearly of constant value.2) In all cases of unilateral and bilateral adrenal hyperfunction, “peak counts”of affected side exceeded 80 counts.3) “Width”was significant in separation of control and hyperfunction group.4) Ratio of“peak counts”to“back counts”could separate the group of unilateral hyperfunction from the group of bilateral hyperfunction clearly.“high counts”was also in separation of these groups.
