Optically active cyphenothrins, a-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (1R) -cis- and (1R) -trans-chrysan-themates were labelled with 14C
at the carbonyl carbon for use in metabolic studies. Ethyl glycinate-1-14C
hydrochloride (6),
prepared from potassium cyanide-14C (2)
in the three steps, was condensed with 2, 5-dimethyl-2, 4-hexadiene via the diazo intermediate to give ethyl cis, trans-chrysanthemate-14C (7) .
Hydrolysis of the ester 7
followed by geometrical separation gave cis-and trans-chrysanthemic-14C
acid (8a
and 8b) .
Each geometrical isomer (8a
or 8b),
was optically resolved to afford (1R) -cis- or (1R) -trans-chrysanthemic-14C
acid (8c
or 8d) .
Esterification of 8c
and 8d
with a-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl bromide (9)
gave (1R) -cis-and (1R) -trans-eyphenothrin- (carbonyl-14C) (la
and 1b)
in the yields of 4 and 6% from 2, respectively.

Optically active cyphenothrins, a-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl (1R) -cis- and (1R) -trans-chrysan-themates, were labelled with 14C
independently at the cyano and the benzyl carbons for use in metabolic studies, α-Cyano-14C-
3-phenoxybenzyl alcohol (4)
prepared from potassium cyanide-14C (2)
was condensed with (1R) -cis- or (1R) -trans-chrysanthemoyl chloride (5a
or 5b)
to give (1R) -cis- or (1R) -trans-cyphenothrin- (cyano-14C) (la

in the yield of 82 or 95% from 2,
respectively. Similarly, a-cyano-3-phenoxybenzyl-a-14C
alcohol (12),
which was synthesized from barium carbonate-14C (6)
in four steps, was esteri feed with 5a
or 5b
to afford (1R) -cis- or (1R) -trans-cyphenothrin- (benzyl-14C) (lc

The overall yields of 1c
and 1d
were 61 and 69% from 6,

Renal function was assessed by measurement of 99mTc-
dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) uptake by the kidney based on the transectional tomographic image obtained by single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) . The renal uptake was expressed as percentage of the total radioactivity detected in the kidney, the volume of which was measured by convolution method, against the amount dosed. Absorption was corrected by GE-STAR method using cut of level of 42%.In order to determine normal range, measurement was made for 40 kidneys of each of 10 male and female volunteers confirmed of having normal kidneys both morphologically and functionally. The average volume of the kidney was 220.4 ml for the right and 239.3 ml for the left for males, and 205.9 ml and 236.5 ml, respectively for females. The renal uptake of radioactivity (at 2 h after injection), was 26.8% for the right and 27.6% for the left for males, with corresponding figures for females being 26.4% and 27.9%, respectively. Distribution range of renal volume and renal uptake was obtained by bivariate analysis with 90% and 95% probability. From these results, our method of renal function determination based on renal uptake of99mTc-
DMSA obtained from renal transactional tomogram by SPECT is considered to be accurate and potentially useful for clinical purpose.

Eighteen outpatients with clonic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis (HD) were studied. Immediately before and after HD, the left and right ventricular function measured by electrocardiogram gated radionuclide ventriculography (RNV) . By HD, body weight changed 58.6±7.50 kg to 57.2±6.80 kg and BUN level changed 67.9±29.00 mg/dl to 37.1±18.96 mg/dl and creatinine level changed 11.3±3.90 mg/dl to 6.8±2.48 mg/dl. Before HD, cardiac output was 8.08±1.501/min and cardiac index was 5.00±0.87 l/ (min m2) . Left ventricular function improved (LVEF changed 60.4±6.85% to 64.2±8.7%, LVEF/LVET changed 0.237±0.048%/ms to 0.254±0.021%/ms) between before and after HD, but there was not significant difference. Right ventricular function improved (RVEF changed 41.2±8.00% to 50.0±11.96, RVEF/RVET changed 0.167±0.028%/ms to 0.209±0.059%/ms) between before and after HD, and there was significant difference (p<0.05) .

A synthetic system for the preparation of 18F-
fluorinating reagent from 18F
anion was developed. This system is also equipped with a device to recover the expensive 18O-
enriched target water. By using this system, we have effectively prepared 18F-KF/
crown ether as a fluorinating reagent, and at the same time recovered 18O-
enriched water in good yield. Furthermore, the synthesis of 18F-
fluoropurine and 18F-
6-fluoro-9-benzylpurine was performed by this system.
