The hydrogen-isotope exchange reaction between each of six species of monosubstituted benzoic acids and tritiated water vapaor (gas-solid reaction) has been observed in the range between 40 and 80°C. Each reaction kinetics was analyzed with the A″-McKay plot method, and the rate constant (i.e., “the acidity based on kinetic logic”) for each material was obtained. The comparison of“the acidities” among the monosubstituted benzoic acids clarified the following evidences. (1) When the degree of the electron-attractive effect of the substituent included in a monosubstituted benzoic acid is high, the reactivity of the compound is also high. (2) The higher is the temperature, the greater is the reactivity of monosubstituted benzoic acid. (3) The temperature dependence of the reaction constant (ρ) is considerably small for the reaction under consideration. (4) Monosubstituted benzoic acids used in this work seem to follow the Hammett rule. The ρ obtained in the gas-solid reaction in the present work is about 1/4 of the ρ obtained previously by the reaction (liquid-solid reaction) between one of liquid compounds and tritiated poly (vinyl alcohol) . This suggests that the effect of the substituent on the reactivity is much smaller in the gas-solid reaction than that in the liquid-solid reaction.
This paper describes the initial response of an automatic dew-point hygrometer using β-ray Backscattering. The response time after starting of measurement was evaluated in which the dew point measured with the hygrometer reached a value of 90 percent of the correct dew point in its response. Theoretical calculation was made by means of the loop transfer function of a control system employed in the hygrometer. The response times ranged from 1.7 min to 16 min corresponding to the dew point of 47.5°C and -6°C, respectively, and agreed well with experimental ones.
The late effect of gamma radiation on blood clearance of99mTc-sodium Pertechnetate (99mTc-SP) in rats was examined. The disappearance rate of99mTc-SP from blood decreased with the increase in dose of ionizing radiation. Changes of the blood clearance of99mTc-SP after irradiation treatment in rats may be influenced by the disorder in the hepatocytes rather than in the bile ductule cells. The blood clearance test of99mTc-SP in rats showed a sensitive reaction for the acute hepatic dysfunction induced by gamma radiation.
This system was composed of a personal computer, a liquid scintillation counter and a welltype NaI (Tl) scintillation counter. The radioactivity of smear samples was automatically measured by these counters. The personal computer received raw signals from the counters through an interface of RS-232C. The software for the computer evaluated the surface concentration of each nuclide, and printed out that value along with other items as a report. The software was programmed in Pascal language. This system was successfully applied to routine survey for contamination in our facility.
Myocardial perfusion imaging with99mTc-teboroxime was performed on patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) or suspected of IHD, which was compared with thallium scintigraphy. Results from the teboroxime imaging were well correspondent with findings in the Tl-scintigraphy, indicating its high sensitivity and specificity. Imaging should be started immediately after the injection of teboroxime, because it cleared from myocardium very rapidly. Additional information about ischemia might be obtained by measurement of its clearance rate from myocardium.
