    This report shows our seminar on Bioscience with ICT. In Bioscience course, most students have to understand the published paper, prepare for presentation about it, and introduce the scientific findings to laboratory fellows. We designed the class of on-demand seminar and improve the learning effects using the chat feature and the review among students.

    Hosei University is a private university of Japan with 15 undergraduate faculties, 15 graduate schools, and 2 professional schools within Tokyo. Hosei University Charter is the founding practical wisdom for freedom, by which graduates have had the ability to live anywhere in the world to contribute to the future of sustainable societies. We are promoting the administrative plan for both learning supports and faculty development with digital transformation (DX) to develop research in our university. Herein, I will introduce the plan for DX-promoting Hosei University to achieve University Charter.

    In this study, the influences of the bowed stator on the aerodynamic performances of a single-stage low-speed axial compressor were investigated numerically. The flows in the compressor with the typical straight stator blades and in that with the bowed stator blades were computed by using the commercial CFD code. The comparison of the computed results for two types of stator blades clarified the followings. The bowed stator blades improved the aerodynamic performances of the compressor due to mainly the suppression of the hub corner separation in the stator blade row. The decrease of the flow rate increased the hub corner separation in the compressor with the straight stator blades, and consequently enhanced the suppression effect on corner separation caused by the bowed blades.

    Triple point of argon was estimated by constant pressure molecular dynamics simulation. The number of molecules in the basic cell was 6912. The Lennard-Jones potential function was assumed. The density and potential energy were obtained as functions of the initial temperature. The triple point was assigned by atomic configuration, potential energy and density. The estimated triple point temperature was reasonable compared with experimental data.

    Unstable state in argon was studied by constant temperature and volume molecular dynamics simulation. The number of molecules in the basic cell was 864. The Lennard-Jones potential function was assumed. The obtained pressure and internal energy were consistent with the reported equation of state which was determined by the simulation data in the stable state. Pressure had van der Waals loop in the unstable state.

    Melting point and boiling point of argon were estimated by constant pressure molecular dynamics. Number of molecules in the basic cell was 6912. The initial configuration was face-centered-cubic lattice. Lennard-Jones potential was assumed. The calculated melting and boiling temperatures were reasonable compared with experiments.

    Relative gas-phase stabilities (ΔEX) of ring-substituted 2-phenyladamantane-5,7-diyliums were computationally determined as the energy difference of hydride transfer equilibria between ring-substituted and their parent dications. Obtained substituent effect was compared to those of α,α-dimethylbenzyl cations (σ+-reference) and 90˚-fixed α,α-dimethylbenzyl cations (σ0-reference). Statistical analyses revealed negligible through-resonance effect and significantly large saturation effect operating in the dication. The result is in contrast with those of 1-phenylcyclobutane-1,3-diyliums and 1-phenylcyclopentane-1,3-diyliums which show both significant through-resonance and saturation effects and that of 2-phenyl-1,3-dehydroadamantane-5,7-diyliums which shows both small through-resonance and saturation effects. The through-resonance and saturation effects have been shown to be independent of each other to confirm that the three-term extended Yukawa-Tsuno equation, -ΔEX = ρ (σ0+r+ΔσR++s+Δσs+), is intrinsic in substituent-effect analyses for the dicationic systems.

    Technology continues to transform education in general, but particularly English language learning. The biggest transformation is occurring as teachers are becoming more cognizant of how Virtual Exchange (VE) can reshape the way English as a Foreign Language (EFL) is taught. VE gives a classroom full of Japanese students the ability to use the language they are studying to interact with students around the world thus ensuring they have a clear understanding of the importance of that language. At a time when intercultural competency is being rated as more important than simple English proficiency by the Japanese business federation, this digital transformation could not have come at a more opportune time. Not only does this new means of EFL education improve students’ employment prospects but it also introduces them to new and engaging ways of thinking and understanding the world in which they live.

    CLIP (Contrastive Language–Image Pre-training) is a neural network capable of learning visual features from various still images with a wide variety of natural language supervision. This model's efficacy has not been explored much for vocabulary learning research, particularly how the CLIP model performs when images are searched for representing a noun coupled with/without a learner-described learning context. Hence, this paper developed a web-based system for noun learning that creates learning materials using the CLIP-model recommended images and translation data from translation API. The research aspect of this study explored- how the image ranking in the CLIP model varies when an image search operation happens for a noun supported with/without a language learner-described learning context. This web application is for foreign language learners who wish to learn new nouns using learning materials.
