Recently, the damage of localized torrential rain by abnormal weather occurs in Japan. If the flow velocity of the river can be observed, the damage of the river flood can be reduced. However, there is no method of measuring the flow velocity of the entire river at the same time. The WMR method of the reconstruction algorithm was applied for the visualization of the sound velocity and the flow velocity distribution. By distributing the propagation time, we obtained the excellent flow velocity distribution. In addition, we obtained the sound velocity distribution equal with a past method.

The Fourier series of a periodic function with the period 1 is ∑n cn exp(j2πnx) where is the Fourier coefficient. When the periodic function is linear and piecewise continuous as a rectangular or a sawtooth waveform, the first derivative or the second derivative is the periodic sign function or the impulse train. In this case we will show a simpler method to obtain the Fourier series of this kind of periodic functions. This method is useful for college students to learn about the Dirac’s delta function.

Waveguide polarizers with a high extinction ratio can be formed for integrated optics by using artificial birefringent media. In this paper, we describe the design and theoretical characteristics of TM-pass waveguide polarizer using periodic dielectric multiplayer. The designed TM-pass waveguide polarizers in the length of 5 mm and thickness of 10 μ m have the extinction ratio of 20 dB and over and the insertion loss of 0.1 dB and under. In addition, we designed a more practicable structure using an adhesive layer.

Montgomery gave birth to her first child, Chester Cameron Macdonald, on July 7, 1912. When she was expecting her second child in 1913, she hoped it would be a girl. However, it turned out to be a boy. To make matters worse, he was stillborn. Deeply depressed by the loss, she felt completely shattered. She had really wanted another child: a brother or a sister for Chester. Nevertheless she was afraid she might be too old to bear another. At the same time, she was frightened that she might undergo a similar dreadful experience. What with the stillbirth of her second son and the outbreak of the First World War, Montgomery was extremely disturbed in 1914, yet she wanted to have another boy or girl. On Oct. 7, 1915, she All these fears and pains accumulated to inspire her novel, Anne's House of Dreams.

Four years have passed since taking TOEIC IP became obligatory for fourth-year students at this college. “English A” for fourth-year students became “General English I” in the first semester and “General EnglishⅡ” in the second semester last year, and the contents of General English I are completely for taking TOEIC . E-learning software for TOEIC was also introduced in the language laboratory last year, and is now used by the fourth-year students. This paper examines the scores of the past four TOEIC IP tests and tries to study the effectiveness of the e-learning system.

New students take a test of working knowledge in English every April, and we make sure to what extent they can understand English and how much they had studied it in spring vacation. Recently, we feel that it becomes more difficult to teach English and the English language ability of new students seems to be gradually decreasing. This year we had time to teach English grammar at the junior high school level, and we had made them review it for about two months. This paper reports how their English language ability has changed after the two-month instruction.
